First Doe taken with 16" Grendel

I thought I would share my first doe taken with the Grendel. Deer was harvested in Crocket National Forest in east Texas. The doe popped out of the brush into the middle of the tram. It looked at our blind and proceeded to continue eating. As it lowered its head and bent its front leg to allow her to eat, she presented me with a nice clean shot that hit above shoulder. The shot was taken at about 125 yards. The bullet used was a 120gr Barnes TSX. With a muzzle velocity of 2460 fps out of my 16" barrel the bullet should have impacted the doe at 2180 fps. The bullet exited right behind the left front leg with a decent exit hole. She managed to go 30 yards before she expired. The bullet managed to decimate the heart and damage the lungs with the angle the bullet traveled.

All in all it was a very slow hunting weekend due to the abnormal warm temperatures and howling winds.

The Barnes bullet look's like it penetrated a long way. I have had good luck with the Barnes 120 gr in the Grendel. Thanks for the pictures and enjoy the venison.
