Will 6.8 mags work in my grendel?

I have heard that grendel mags work in 6.8SPC set ups. How about the other way around? Also, I wonder what would happen if I took the follower from a grendel mag and put it into a PMAG?

The problem with the pmag is the wall thickness messes up the staggering of the 6.5 grendel.

I ordered 5, 14 round 6.5 mags from C-products over a year ago and what I got had grey followers marked "6.8". They all work flawlessly. Not sure how compatible any other mags are, especially 25 rounders etc.

I bought some C-Products Grendel mags about 5 or 6 years ago it seems and I just started messing with them the other day. They sure don't seem to want to keep the rounds tight or in line. they want to nose dive and sit crooked in there and I can only get about 14 in the 20 rd. (which I guess is about right) but it will not feed at 14. So 12 or so is the max and they still rattle and it's just a sloppy deal. The 25's do the same thing besides being able to stuff a few more rounds into them.

Did C-Products make some changes to the 6.5 Grendel mags and maybe I just got some of the first generation ones? I just don't want to go and buy 10 or 15 more mags and they all turn out to be junk also. Is this still one of the achilles' heel of the outstanding Grendel idea?

Hi LHClarke: It seems I remember C-Products changed something with their Grendel mags about a year or so ago. I think there was a discussion on the old website about it but I don't remember exactly which part was changed but it seemed to help the reliability.

Mine have always worked fine( I probably just jinxed myself) and I've got both early and later versions.

Hopefully someone can jump in that remembers exactly what dimension or part was changed.

I had several 6.8 SPC mags made by PRI and C Products. They were all 25 rounders. When I got my Grendel I tried them in it and couldn't get them to function with more than 5 rounds in them. Maybe others have had different results. I have a hard enough time getting Grendel mags to work right.

Another problem I noticed with the 308 Pmags is that the thickness of the plastic required to make the magazines sturdy, reduces the overall length of the cartridge that you can use considerably more than metal magazines will allow.

Of the 9 new c products mags only 2 work intermittently so the rest are junk will not feed at all so now I have a problem and we need a better mag if I am going to pursue the Grendel further.

Type of rifle or upper, built by who?

Which extension/upper profile? M4 cuts or not?

I haven't had ANY mags which didn't work in the last 2+ years, from either AA, CProducts, or 44Mag, (who sells CProducts). Getting 9 of 9 that don't work properly just seems out of kilter with what everyone else is reporting.

Certainly, mags have been an issue in the past, but not lately.

Rifle is by Quality Arms Idaho with m4 feed ramps and Stoner barrel all 223 metal mags and p mags lock in easy Grendel mags hit and miss really have to smack the bottom to seat mag . The two that work are the large capacity mags and work with this barrel.
The others are both the 5 and 10 mags and the barrel is the 20 inch Saturn feeds from one side only.
Built a 308 and had a c products 10 round mag and had to hammer it in and out yet the P mag slipped in and came out easy.
So my faith in c products is negative so need to get a better mag or I will be shelving all Grendel builds in the future. Which is a shame as I consider it one of the superior rounds out there

Well I can't say unless you try them, but http://www.ammosc.com/ has 6.5 G mags. But they use C-Products type manufacturing I think. Call them first to make sure they got them in. I ordered some different mags from them and they came fast and work. Hope that helps.
