I have a WCI muzzle brake on my 6.5 that I have shot about 150 rounds through. Recently after my last outing the paint started to flake off. Looks kind of crappy. Anyone have any ideas on how to get it off? Are they normal threads? Also, what are my options for painting or coating?

Who should I sedn it too? Any recommendations? I live in Portales NM, about 3.5 hrs from Albuquerque.

Peck-Did you buy a wci-from them, or AA? The data from warped is-AA uses a phenolic plastisized coating==el cheapo flako. I bought an AA unit-sanded the outside down to the bare S.S. -then use an etch primer rattle can it, =2 light coats- then dust on your fave colors- I went cheap-krylon camo, flat colors in el rattle canno's- total cost= 11 bucks. Still on after 1 yr. of abuse.
I did but it from AA. I think your right too Sneaky. I may as well just sand it down and rattle can it. Save some time/money.

I would blast it, degrease the crap out of it, and rattle-can it with Cerakote high-temp coating, which is used for suppressors. The bake-on Cerakote is not recommended fro cans, as it will discolor at extreme high heat, so they made a rattle can version available from Brownell's that will fit the bill.
That black engine block paint works really well too. It does need to bake on since it has ceramic in it. But, one trip to the range works just fine. I've used it on several different parts and barrels and it matches the black on the recievers really well. And, it lasts.
To remove the WCI just stick a cleaning rod or small diameter Phillips head screwdriver all the way through one of the side holes an twist off. No washers needed. Mine is standard RH thread.
