Differing magazine followers in ASC magazine products for the 6.5 Grendel

I recently purchased two ASC magazines (blue followers) which had ASC clearly imprinted on the top of the magazine follower.

Neither mag would lock the bolt back, a quick comparison with an older Alexander Arms mag, made by the former C-Products Co., revealed that the ASC mags were short on the back edge of the follower - the area designed to engage the bolt catch.

Today I received this message from ASC, which I figured would be helpful for those who are buying magazines going forward. Ask for a ASC mag with a black follower!

followers as we do not carry c products items. We have lengthened the 6.5
follower to correct this issue as well. The replacement followers are also

I am not sure, I don't know if ASC is integrating the black follower going forward or if they are sending them out on a case by case basis.

The lower I have is the all Polymer New Frontier LW15.

All things considered the bolt catch should be in the same location and of the same dimensions in all LW15 lowers, so if you have one of those you would want to seek out the black followers.

Thanks for the info. Interesting, I have some of the ASC mags with the blue followers I got about 6 months ago. They work fine.

The replacement followers arrived from ASC, they are noticabley larger in the area which would engage the lower's bolt catch. I swapped them out and they lock the bolt back on an empty magazine.

Note the black replacement followers do not have 6.5 imprinted on them like the blue followers.
