PS Bill Try CB long subsonic 22's made by CCI they are very quiet and I got 2 groundhogs this week with them in my back yard.

My neighbor uses CB's even inside the city limits, but where I shoot them I'm very exposed to view, and the cops have come to check me out several times, after people have called me in as having a rifle. I've got 17 of them this summer. Most of the time my longest shot is 20 yards, and I found a hollowpoint that will shoot tiny groups at that distance. I can actuallly hit them in the head consistently inside 20 yards.

Those CB caps are quieter than the .177 air rifle! They are very effective on cottontails.

I also have to worry about visual pollution attracting the wrong folks.

Walrus jerky! That's funny. I haven't seen any of those around here but I did live in a town a few years back that had hippos everywhere.

I recently bought a brick of Fiocci 40 grain subsonic 22lr and I'm throughly impressed. They sound like mouse farts and cycle all of my semi autos just as well as standard velocity ammo. Out of a bolt gun w/ a suppressor they are spooky quiet.

I might have to try those. I'm using the CCI 40 grain HP subs through my cans now, and it works great on critters.

The other thing I like about them is they have a nasty hollow point and put an impressive whompin' on cans of skunky beer. They should be plenty effective on small critters.
