I can't seem to shake off that flier. Is this uncommon? Do I need to move on?
Maybe a better question would be: Does this kind of result suggest staying with 120g eldm and changing powders (I also tried XBR and Varget) with somewhat similar results, a change in 120g bullet (perhaps a Nosler) or a change in bullet weight.

Is the flier in all groups or just on a cold bore. I always face the receiver and use blue Loctite on the barrel extension when I assemble uppers. Are you using a flash hider or muzzle brake? You could try shooting the rifle with a plain muzzle. Id double check all my screws on the optic mount to make sure they are torqued correctly.

I get fliers in all groups and only has a thread protector on the muzzle. I'm not sure about the loctite. I hate to give up on this bullet since so many groups only have one bad bullet. Is this an indication the gun likes 120grain or does it indicate its never going to group with 120's. I'm not sure.

LR1955 swears by by the 120 grain Sierra Match King as the most forgiving bullet for the 6.5 Grendel. Ive not shot the 120 SMK but I got very good accuracy with the 120 grain Pro Hunter. Other than single loading one bullet/cartridge in the rifle at a time to make everything the same and seeing if you still get the one flier. If the flier continues I suggest trying another bullet like the 120 grain SMK and see if the flier persist. Bedding the barrel helps to eliminate some accuracy issues, especially if the fit between upper and barrel is not snug.

Thank You Vascar2 I will try the Sierra bullets if I can find them. Especially the pro hunter since it has a flat base vs the boat tails I have been shooting.

I've just discovered the 110 grain Lehigh solid copper bullets. I have to work on them a little more but they seem to be showing the most promise for me.
problem is, they are almost 1.00 each for a projectile !!
I haven't had to good of luck with 3 different uppers, ONE of them with a Krieger match barrel ($400 for that).
I've never had this kind of troubles over a period of 40 years of reloading many different calibers. (223, 243, 6.5 x 284, 308, 25-06 etc )

Does anybody have a good load for:
a 110 grain Lehigh solid copper bullet at about 2600 FPS or greater?
same for a 108 Lupua Scenar bullet at about 2600 FPS or greater?
and lastly
the Hornady 123 ELD at 2500 FPS or greater.
All of these in an AR rifle with a 20 inch barrel.

I'm getting about 2490 fps out of my 22" barrel with the 123 ELD
Benchmark 26.5 grains
A2520 28.5 grains
CFE223 30.0 grains
LVR 30.0 grains
TAC 27.7 grains

My latest groups (SPEED ONLY) too hard to get both target and speed on a public range while liniing up a 3 screen chronograph. Especially when they have an AWNING to keep you from shooting way to HIGH!

If I ever get around to re-shooting those loads I'll definitely update or repost with the new info. Nothing below showed any signs of over pressure, most are very mild loads, and all were shot through a Griffin Precision AR-15 with a 23 inch 1-8 twist 3 groove Lilja barrel

I have NO idea what the he11 happened to the two loads that had a very HIGH extreme spread. I weighed each powder charge when loading, Kept it to within + or - 1/10 of a grain of powder. there were other people shooting next to me.

Hi Fellas,
Ive loaded for my Ruger American Ranch with 16.1 barrel for a while now get decent results (5 shot groups @ 100m, usually under .8). This is with IMR 8203XBR 27.7g, Nosler 100g BT, Hornady brass, Federal primers, 1.80 Base to Ogive. Mine seems to like above load alot. Gun is intended for a UTV/truck gun and has certainly stood up to dust, mud, dirt and is my ever-ready easy care gun. So question is: I want a little more velocity outta mine (of course with accuracy) any suggestions on more powder? I dont have a chronograph per say yet, but do have a ShotMarker electronic target. It consistently claims 2000 fps @ 100m mark, so Im guessing 22-2300 for MV?
Any suggestions using above components, or with CFE223, Leverevolution, or Reloader 10x would be great.

Needed some figures for Benchmark. The only resource I could find for a 130gn projectile was the Berger manual and those figures were just
crazy low. I could see recommendations for a 123gn projectile on the Hodgden site, and Berger's figures just made no sense. I appreciate this data!

My 100gr NBT load is 30.5gr 8208xbr at 2.255"coal. 2800fps from 20" barrel. I dont consider this load hot, higher charges opened the group up so stuck to 30.5gr.Es numbers were under 20fps.
