Anyone buy a box of AA 123 scenar recently? I think from their own published data they say the round is loaded to 2.265".
I inquired today and they responded:
"ALEXANDER ARMS IS CURRENTLY LOADING THE 123GR LAPUA AND THE 129 SST GRENDEL LOADS AT A COAL OF : 2.250 – 2.255 {This tolerance better fits most manufactures magazines’ interior {front to back dimension}."
Anyone know if the change effects the accuracy of the round velocity?
I know when I load em at 2.265" they barely fit into an Elander mag ...

I bought some AA 6.5 Grendel ammo with Hornady 129gr SSTs back in January 2020. Just checked a 20 round sample of them from 4 different boxes & the COAL ranged from 2.261" to 2.266". It does, indeed, appear AA is seating that bullet a bit deeper now days. Had no problem loading them in an ASC mag.

The ASC and duramags let you go 2.280-85 and sometimes 2.290". I have set some of my loads out to 2.290".

Have you ever chronoed the SSTs? (If..so what's your barrel length?)

My ASCs allow alot more overall length then my Elander mags...I think at 2.270" my 123gr. Scenars are almost scraping...I may have to load em shorter too

I've not shot any of my AA Grendel ammo yet. So far all I've shot are Hornady 123 Amax & SSTs during barrel break in for my AR (20" barrel). I didn't have my chrono set up during break in.

Before even reading, I immediately thought of the Elander magazines being the driving factor for this.

Good point....I'm wondering if accuracy tests were done after the COAL was changed....there's got to be some change in velocity, accuracy, pressures......
