Grendel case trimming

I just watched that section of the clip from Hornady, which lays out what I was talking about.

This certainly isn’t hurting me with my bolt life.

After thousands upon thousands of rounds through multiple 6.5 Grendel AR-15s, I just haven’t ever had a bolt failure.

Also, since CFE223 is a bit on the slow side for burn rate behind a 123gr cup and core, chamber pressure isn’t pushing the edge.

Echo on double cleaning. For rifle brass my process is dry tumble, deprime/size, trim, ultrasonic clean, dry in food dehydrator. Time consuming but I’m retired, not in a hurry.

Same double cleaning. Mainly to ensure I don't have residual oxidation after annealing and to clean up the burnt lanolin I didn't bother with before annealing.

I use PEG-75 lanolin mixed with alcohol to resize and it washes off with just water. Case is totally clean of any lanolin on the inside and outside.

Old school here. I use transmission fluid on an ink pad to lube the outside of the cases and Armorall protectant on a patched jag and a short piece of cleaning rod. Little bit goes a long way, never any problems. The transmission fluid is easy to wipe off with a rag.

I sure have to trim my Lapua brass to 1.515 routinely or it won't chamber. However, I don't have a SAAMI chamber. My chamber's max case length is 1.525. Cases sure get longer with my loads that are not maximum hot.
