Things to note were the green tip left a green spot on the steel. First time I've experienced this so it was interesting. Repeated shots on the same steel would make exact point of impact easy to identify... look for green dot.
They seem to basically explode on impact, and don't leave much of a mark. Might get hard to see at 1000
I'm beginning to think these bullets are just accurate, powder choice seems to not matter much except to determine desired velocity. These blitzkings might be easier to find a good load than the 120smk.
One thing you might have to do is lower your load in hot weather since you developed this load in 50deg temps and it looks like it is on the ragged edge of hotness(load a little hot). I don't have PPV powder in QL or GRT so can't figure out the powder load differences between 100deg and 10deg and keep the same velocity. I did figure out data for a few other powders and they were all about .16gr difference up or down for every 10deg difference in temps. Less powder in hot temps. I have not tested the data so work up the loads at your own risk.

My 8208 supply is down to the last 2#. I can't afford to experiment with it. Shoots the 120gr mk too well and I have 400 of those bullets left. If there is a good source lmk
I shot some today with H335 and H322.
H335 shot awesome right at 30 gr.
H322 shot awesome at 27.3.
Both were under MOA with a 20" Faxon group buy barrel.

Starting to play with this in a 28" barrel
It's getting interesting. Pushing it harder doesn't result in much more fps, suspect burnout a bit too far before muzzle exit resulting sub-optimal velocity gains. Guess I need to try the all mighty leverevolution with the extended barrel length I'm playing with.
Wanted to thank you guys for suggesting this projectile. Was struggling to find a load that my 20" Faxon match barrel would shoot. This is my 4th Grendel and the previous rifles were all pretty easy to please with 123gr and 120gr projectiles. This latest Faxon build was throwing consistent 1.5" groups with all my previous loads and new ones I was tinkering with. Decided to try some lighter projectiles after finding this thread among others.
Started with 8208 and the first ladder produced a 5 shot, 100 yd .717" group. Load was 28.8gr @2.249" OAL. Speed was 2733fps. I repeated these results in 2 other shooting sessions and multiple rifles with groups down around .56".
Would have stopped there but having only a single pound of 8208 I decided to see if I could duplicate the 8208 load with ARComp since the two powders are close on most burn rate charts. I ran a single ladder with 6 charges, 28.5gr did the trick, 5 shot 100yd group measured .631". The chrono numbers were the best I have ever gotten with an ES of 7 and SD of 3. Projectile again was moving right at 2700fps. I am getting similar results in my 6.5 Creedmoor bolt gun at the 2700fps velocity with H4895. I ended up picking up another box of 500 projectiles which should tied me over for a long time.
Re-ran 31.8gr today because it was 90F out. Picked up 20fps and not much else. Running this tomorrow for a match because it put down a .2" 10 shot group at 100 yards and man it gets out there quick. Definately becoming a preferred load for me.

Yep, max charge on once fired lapua, prepped, and annealed brass. Temps reached 95 towards the end, zero complaints. Energy at target wasn't a concern like full sized rams are. I'm done with the 105s for the year actually. Too many ringers at 500m vs 130s at 2500fps during practice sessions. This last match was the shoot small steel and golf balls so impact energy didn't really matter. It is all fight the wind and accuracy counts. I chose to make up for my wind deficiency with speed and moderate bc.
Jake..sierra says up to and including bobcat and coyote on this bullet...so i dont think it is the bullet for deer
i was doing some water bottle test with this 105 bullet at 200yrds a couple days ago....it is really hard on a gal of water...and really accurate out of my rifle...and i thought the same thing...about using it on deer but research says not to do it...
but im sure someone has used this bullet...and maybe if you didnt hit anything solid...bone...and slipped one through the rib lung area it could work....but i respect the animal more than maybe so for me im gona use the 120 prohunter bullet for deer and save the 105 for the smaller stuff like yotes
Ocharry, I was hoping with the Grendel velocities it might not be as explosive. Appreciate the feedback. I know plenty of people that kill deer with 5.56 VMAX bullets, but I am not a fan of this method. You and I are like minded and there are better projectiles for whitetail. Was just curious if sierra 105 had potential.
