PPU Brass

I’ve got a few hundred with the large rifle primer prior to the recall. Some PPU LRP brass is good for a couple loadings before the primer pockets get to loose. The LRP PPU brass quality varies from lot to lot. I use S&B primers which fit little tighter than Federal LRP. The newer PPU small rifle primed brass is supposedly a lot better but I’ve never bought any brass or new ammo. There have been a couple of positive reviews of the PPU SRP brass on this forum.

I'm using some of the new PPU SRP brass. I am on loading number 7 with no issues. Case capacity is only .1 gr less of H2O than the Hornady brass I have.

I’m shooting through my 120gr loaded PPU factory loads and reloading the brass. It’s been as easy to work with as anything else I’ve ever used. I’ll be comparing it to factory starline at some point.

That is from a 20" AR-15.

That’s a lot better performance than the older LRP PPU brass.

When I tried reloading it, I think I lost the primer pockets on the 2nd or 3rd loads.

20” RLGS helps with brass life as well since the port location and dwell time are about ideal.

I'm up to load number 3 on the PPU LP brass, so far they are fine. (CCI primers for now)

I've loaded it in 223, 6.5Gr and 7.5x55.
Decent brass, a little on the soft side, which shortens life, IMO.
My current go to for my Grendels is Starline

I noticed Graf’s had PPU 6.5 Grendel brass the other day. I just checked and PPU brass is still in stock but looks more expensive than Starline.

Druid Hill Armory still has Starline 6.5 Grendel brass for $60 per hundred. I think I’d buy US made Starline.

Just and FYI, finally had a neck split on the 10th firing with the PPU brass. Never were annealed since new, just sized trimmed and loaded. I annealed the remaining 19 in the box, will see how much longer they last.
