On a hike in the Sandia Mountains I came upon a mountain lion at an estimated 10yds. "The willies!" Yup, an apt description! :eek:

Good shot, the first two or three are what starts it. Then the addiction sets in. After a couple hundred it starts to be enjoyable but a chore. My favorite way to hunt them is to put out bait piles in places where when the wind is right I can sneak up on them in the dark and blast one in the neck at very short range, 50 feet or less. Then the short term blindness from the muzzle blast goes away. Can you imagine the fear this puts into the survivors? And the thrill of getting so close to a 2-300 pound hog in the complete dark. Our roads and most areas are a light colored sand so even with just some moon you can see the dark shapes of hogs or their shadows. I turn the spot light on just as I get my sights aligned. Yee Haw!

Getting on this thread late but what a thrill that must have been! Continued success to you all in eliminating them.
