LR1955, LRRPF52, and myself will be there Friday/Sat and at least LR1955 will be there some of Sunday.

You will do yourself a big service to come and practice field fire, at least, on Friday or Saturday.

Experience has shown that those that shoot Friday/Saturday, or at least one of the two days, will have MUCH better success on Sunday.

Field Fire each day is $50, with the Precision Rifle Clinic costing $100. The Clinic advantage is that you get coaching from guys with tremendous long range experience.

As a note, Annette Wachter, who runs the blog 30 Cal Gal, http://30calgal.blogspot.com/, is the Washington State 300 yard Prone champion, and owns the National record for 300 yard prone, will be there attending with Shelley Rae as a shooting partner and sponsored by ESS Eyepro.

I've not met her, but by all accounts she is a gifted shooter. I have met Shelley Rae, and she is friendly and helpful, as well as talented shooter in her own right, also.

I enjoyed the two days of field fire. I brought four rifles to the event and had the best success with my Grendel - a Les Baer upper on a RRA NM lower. Coming a close second was my Stag Arms Hunter in 6.8SPC.

My wife and I stayed at the Konkoville Motel. It is the gathering place for many of the participants. Another benefit at the Konkoville is the cook your own steak dinner with a baked potato and salad.

It was nice to meet you and your sidekick. Sorry we didn't get to talk more. The weather was superb this year for sure. Last year, we had sideways blowing snow on Day 1 of the Precision Rifle Clinic. I never did see your blasters.

It was great to see you! I never got a chance to see your rifles, either.....dang it! I always think I'll have more time to go up and down the line, but it just doesn't happen!

It was a great Boomershoot, I think my favorite so far!

As you can see from LRRP52, the weather was much better for us on Friday and Saturday than past clinics. On Friday we had a good 8 - 18 full value that stayed full value most of the day. This is actually good because most Clinic attendees want wind doping. Here is where it can be a bit hard to understand. Most who attend the Clinic still show error in their shooting and unless the wind is high enough, it may be hard to tell if a hit or miss was due to their ability to dope the wind. The average was around 10 MPH and that was sufficient wind where we could tell if a hit or miss was primarily due to a wind call or not. The problem Friday was that it was cloudy and combined with the winds, seeing trace was extremely difficult. Saturday showed lighter winds and better sun so trace was easier to see.

Sunday was the shoot day and it was sunny with maybe a 3 - 8 that was running mostly half value but it would die very quickly and periodically would shift to a quarter value from the other direction so you had to keep an eye on mirage and some of the streamers we use for flags. Bill Waites spotted for me and my other coach and we blew up a bunch of targets in the 700 yard region. Bill has become and exceptional observer.

LRRPF52 shot his .260 gas gun, my other coach shot his 6.5 Creedmoor, and I shot a 6 X 47 Lapua.

I think Bill shot his Grendels some on Friday and Saturday. He shot my 6 X 47 a bit on Sunday and blew up a couple at 700.

All in all, it was a fun and satisfying time this year.

Will their be another Bommershoot this fall or next spring?
When Mark @ Precision Firearms finishes my wife's Grendel we will both have one and we could use some professional help for long range tactical shooting.
We live in the Boise area so the drive should not be a problem.

AR10T, Boomershoot is almost always the last weekend of April or first weekend of May, depending on how the calendar falls. Next year it is scheduled for April 26-28, with a Precision Rifle Clinic the first 2 of those days.

You can register for the Precision Rifle Clinic now at http://boomershoot.org/ but I'm not sure if they are taking registrations for Sunday Boomershoot yet. Typically that doesn't happen until late August or early September. We make every effort to limit the number of people in the Clinic to 4 shooters per instructor if possible, so registering early guarantees a spot, and helps us arrange to have the proper number of instructors there (otherwise you might get stuck with me!). I know that we already have had people register for both Field Fire (without firing line instruction, although you can sit in on the meetings) and the Clinic with firing line instruction.

There is not another class of this type, with this kind of instruction and level of instruction, for this cost, anywhere west of the Mississippi that I can find (maybe not in the whole country!). Similar classes usually run at least 3-4 times the cost. The instructors are first rate, and real world guys who have LOTs of experience shooting at the National and International levels.

Anette Wachter, who won the Lt. Governors Trophie at the BC Open matches in British Columbia, only the 2nd woman and 1st American woman to do so, was there this year. She has always been an open sight shooter, so using a scope at long range was a new experience for her. She said, "I will drag as many people as I can for next year. Even without the camera crew following me I plan on going back." (She and her team member were being filmed for ESS Eyewear for a promotional video.)
