Going to dip my toe into the Grendel world by building an upper.
The jolly red fellow is stacking me with enough gift cards to get all the parts, except the barrel. I wanted to pick that out myself.

This will be for deer hunting 95% of the time, and range fun 5%.
I’m pretty set on 16” barrel. We walk a lot on our hunts. Mostly a combination of still hunting plus man drives. Terrain and my shooting ability will likely keep shots at 200 yards and definitely under 250.
It’s diet will be factory ammo for now, reloading is in the foreseeable future though.

My current weapon is a 300BLK with a red dot. I just want to step up a little bit.

I’ve stalked this wonderful place for a month. My attention devoted to the search button and not my wife, which hasn’t gone unnoticed. Lol. I read all the threads on barrels.

One day I’m convinced to get the Lilja, the next day I’m thinking Monster.

I’m up for anything price wise in between.

If you are me, what barrel would you go with?
Prefer an “in stock” option.

I have a Monster 12" barrel on one of my Grendels and have no complaints what so ever. Its about a MOA rifle with my handloads. I'm sure you've looked all over at 16" barrels and it all comes down to what you want to spend (or CAN spend and keep the wife happy) the weight of the barrel for carrying, the wait time for out of stock items, and possible performance. To further cut weight have you considered a 14.5" barrel and getting a muzzle device pinned and welded to it to get to 16"? At under 250 yards it should do just fine.

I would still consider the SixFive Monster Logo barrel if the Lilja is a bit much for your budget.

I have 2 monster barrels one 20" 6mm ARC and one 16" 6.5 Grendel which is sub MOA at 100 yards .

Lol. Other than the attention deficit, the wife and I are on good terms. She will not bat an eye at my purchase.
It’s hard ignore the Monster barrels at their price point.
The Wilson Combat is on sale now.
And the Lilja is, well a Lilja. Lol.

I guess it’s the age old question: how much am I willing to spend for accuracy.

My experience with cheaper barrels is they take a couple hundred rounds to get shooting well. Expensive barrels shoot well right away. At $1.00 a round, the expensive barrel is cheaper to get shooting well. A lot of what you pay for is labor properly finishing the barrel. Right now, labor is cheaper than Grendel ammo. Factor that in.

Proof Research SS are my last 2 barrels (Grendel and 223). I believe they do a 16" but I wasn't paying attention to a 16" length. Both of mine shoot as a $$ barrel should. For a less expensive option, don't rule out an Odin Works.
