AR Magazines and Iron Sights

Which AR magazines do you guys recommend for the 6.5G?

Can you recommend any specific fold down iron sights?

I’ve had great results with CProducts magazines, Elanders, and Amend2 Polymer mags (10rd).

The CProducts allow the longest COL when hand-loading.

I just ordered a bunch of ASC 25rd mags to give them a shot again after many years. They are a lot more refined than the ASC mags of 10 years ago.

I haven’t cycled them through yet.

For Iron sights, there are a lot of options on the market now and most of them are more than adequate.

Will you be using a scope primarily with back-up irons?

E-lander 17 round mags work for me. The 24 round mags are too long and interfere with bench shooting. I use only 20 round .223 mags as well.

You’ll need a low profile fold down rear sight if your going to mount it under your optic. I’m using a low profile Midwest Industries rear BUIS on my 16” 6.5 Grendel. I have several of the Midwest Ind. rear BUIS that use the same aperture and windage dial as a fixed A-2 sight. I’m using the larger MI BUIS on my AR-15’s with Red Dot Sights. If your going to mount the Sights at 45 degrees I don’t think it matters much

Front BUIS gas block mount

I’m using a couple different front gas block mounted BUIS but the gas block mounted front sight will be to tall if mounted on the hand guard pic rail. They make fold down front sight designed to be mount on a float tube or 1913 rail on a hand guard.

As for magazines I’ve used most but unfortunately all brands of 6.5 Grendel magazines have lemons slip through. I recommend buying 6.5 Grendel mags from vendors who will warranty replace or refund defective magazines. I use the seventeen round E-Lander, twenty round C Products Defense Duramag or fifteen round ASC mags the most.

These are my favorite Grendel mags. I found loading them to capacity and letting them sit for a few weeks improves reliability.
