Will the ammo shortage continue into 2022?

Grendel wise, there's nothing in Albuquerque Cabella's, Sportsman's or LGS. No Scheel's here. If you want .223 Rem, 5.56 NATO or 9mm Lugar, there's tons of it everywhere. For all calibers; powder, primers & bullets are still scarce & brass is non-existent... except .223 Rem & once fired 7.62 NATO. Asking the help about when more reloading stuff will come in will only get you a shoulder shrug. Funny thing... when LGS get Grendel rifles, they get sold quickly. I guess that's why there's no Grendel ammo or components on the store shelves. They get sold fast too...

I was at an Academy store Monday and they had Hornady 6.5 Grendel Black 123 grain ELDM-M for $29 a box. Ammo shelves were pretty well stocked but no reloading supplies (powder, primers, brass) and very few bullets.

This is the middle of September of 2022. Yes, it did continue. Maybe things will be better in 2023.

I'm thinking store shelves will be short on reloading components for awhile longer. I suspect the ammo makers will be using them for factory ammo for the time being. Probably won't see much until the ammo makers get caught up with their boxed ammo. There will spurts where components will be easier to find online. Just gotta be quick when they become available.

There is so much pent-up demand. There are about 5 million people just waiting for prices to go down, so they can go on a "never again" shopping spree. Things won't be back to the 2016 levels till DeSantis, or Pence, or some GOP guy gets elected President.

Brass and ammo manufacturers will concentrate on their biggest sellers first. 223, 6.5 CM, .308 etc. Once they have a surplus of those cartridges the red headed stepchild ammo like 6.5 Grendel and 6 ARC will get some love

As this thing drags on and the US gummint keeps sending munitions there, I wonder if we aren't going to see a bunch of stuff sucked up to replenish.

That will be more of a Raytheon and Lockheed Martin thing than a Lake City thing.

So far I think that is true. No telling what happens over time.

I don't know about never again shopping sprees, but I bulked up on ammo pre Obama and still have a huge amount of it left. Unbeknownst to me, that was my never again shopping sprees for .223, .45 acp, 9mm, and .22 lr. I am Zombie-rated in those calibers, largely because I got out of pistol competitions and stopped shooting .223 around 2015.

My current Grendel goal, as it has been for years, is to keep at least 1000 rounds of hunting ammo on hand. I think I dipped down to 700 or 800 for a while in 2020/2021, but am not back over 1200.

Seems availability varies by locality. Here in central SC the big stores(Acadamy,sportsmans warehouse,palmetto state armory) haven’t been getting Grendel ammo. One local LGS has Hornady 123 gr Black in stock. Primers and powder at those same bigger stores is same as Grendel ammo. Only stores with powder near me are over an hour away and are small shops. They didn’t have primers either though

This. The ammo is actually already back, but still qpriced premium. SG Ammo, Classic Arns, Lucky gunner, etc - almost all have some Grendel ammo. But you have to pay.
