Justice Clarence Thomas delivered the majority opinion for the court, writing, "The constitutional right to bear arms in public for self-defense is not 'a second-class right, subject to an entirely different body of rules than the other Bill of Rights guarantees.'"

"We know of no other constitutional right that an individual may exercise only after demonstrating to government officers some special need," Thomas wrote. "That is not how the First Amendment works when it comes to unpopular speech or the free exercise of religion. It is not how the Sixth Amendment works when it comes to a defendant's right to confront the witnesses against him. And it is not how the Second Amendment works when t comes to public carry for self-defense."

The lefty reasoning that the 2A is only about the State being able to have some arms for military needs is nonsense. The Heller case proved the right to own arms is not linked to the militia.. The first sentence is a statement: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, meaning trained and equipped. The second sentence is an order to government: the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Leftist logic: the people need permission from the tyrannical government for the types of arms they are allowed to own to fight the very same tyrannical government..Talk about mental gymnastics LOL..

A very apt comparison. Reminds me as well, the "massive resistance" movement by the Dems in Virginia in 1957 where they shut down all public schools for a year in protest to Brown v Bd of Ed... The Dems didn't like being over-ruled in their little totalitarian-discriminatory fiefdoms. Gubner Hok-awful is much the same.

And by the way, my wife found that the first gun control laws in 19th century were passed in the South to prohibit Blacks from owning guns. Ever the discriminators, they are.

So its rather poetic that justice Thomas writes the majority opinion, and that both the 2d and the 14th are included as being violated by the NYS laws.

LOL The Supreme Court has been gutting the Voting Rights Act for the last 20 years. That has been consistent.
Google Supreme Court and Voting Rights Act and you will see plenty of articles about decisions restricting various parts of it.

NY still does not recognize out of state permits so your answer is no you can not.

As of today both NJ and CA have dropped the requirement to show "proper cause" for CCW permits.

These states are effectively turning into a "shall issue" status.

I'm very surprised also as I felt the court didn't have the balls to stand up to the mob.

They let the mob steal an election and states violate their own constitutions.

I'm happy but I'd be more happy if they struck down the tax on a right.......the entire permit concept is the theft of a right which is then leased back to the victim.

There can be no taxes on any right.

From what I remember reading months ago, when states (NY) were feeling it was going to go against them, their plan was to ban carry in designated locations or services (subway lines, etc.) We will have to see what happens.
