I have a fan that keeps track of my hunting. Running stats is something that keeps him entertained and he recently told me that I was coming up on a significant milestone, a quarter million pounds of hogs killed. I may have gotten it two hunts ago, but if not, I crossed the threshold last night with a 200 lb boar. Every so often, he sends me an updated spreadsheet and let's me know things like the male/female kill ratio, whether average size of hogs is increasing or decreasing, or the average size by sex, average shooting distances, etc.
I was able to hunt my place last evening. Sitting in a box and waiting is a much more relaxing way to hunt than what I normally do, but it is nice to sit back and just watch nature now and then.
This boar came in and start to dine. I placed a shot through the brain at 100 yards. I noted this in the video, but it is great when your zero distance is the same distance as your feeder. That wasn't by accident.

Very cool DNS. That is a LOT of hunting. These things are more prolific than rabbits, and I think they are killing our West Texas quail. At least if we have Great Depression II, there will be plenty of bacon to go around for the country folks.

Think of just the cost of ammo alone to eliminate the swine. Much less the other equipment, training, time, preparation, etc.

i'm hoping through it all, the initial rifle/caliber tryouts, and the rest of the gear trials and evaluations, and the years you've put in, you've continued to have FUN. Here's hoping for another fun 13 years eliminating feral pigs.

It is a lot of fun. It is also a lot of work, both in the field and the editing afterwards. I still get a charge out of being able to help out landowners and manage to get usable video as well. Not all of the hunts are truly exciting, but sometimes there are unique things I can cull from them to present in order to help make them more interesting. That is the other reward I really enjoy, is hearing how something I have presented is found to be entertaining or useful to the viewers. It is often the input from the viewers that helps me try new things or make better presentations. A lot of the stuff I do comes from input from folks like y'all.
In this case, the hunt wasn't so much as reaching the 250k lbs. Of course, I never would have realized that because I never would have tabulated all the data. A viewer generously has donated his time and did that for me and he even sends me the occasional update on my progress, everything from average male size, average female size, male to female ratio, average number of yards shot, etc.

Congrats on this milestone. The stats your buddy is keeping combined with your professional videos are probably pretty valuable to researchers. Really impressive and appreciate you being on the forum
