Is Anderson lower hate justified?

When I first got into ARs, I started with PSA, my next build was off an Anderson lower and upper. I put a criterion 223 barrel onto the Anderson upper, it was a very tight fit - just as tight as BCM upper; and the Anderson upper/lower are the best matched, tight combo of all my ARs. The rifle is a very good shooting gun and cost the least. Guess I got luck that all the tolerances stacked just right.

i have assembled AR lowers from: DPMS, Alexander, Anderson, YHM, BRO, Doublestar, Del Ton, Colt, PSA, Aero and Bushmaster. One cast, some billet, some forged; all have been fine on specs, some fit with some uppers tighter than others.

I've used a couple of 80% Anderson lowers with no problems. Nothing wrong with Anderson products and same quality as some lowers I've paid twice as much for.

Anderson averages over 300,000 lowers a year.......I would guess their defect rate as a percentage is less than or on par with what some people consider top tier suppliers.

Looks nice but why did you mount the head to it?

I've used Aero for all the builds i've been associated with except the last one with my daughter, not hating on Anderson just supply, OMNI was a not to use after having to replace my nephews unit. Warped, BAD!
My daughter wanted the cool looking pirate on the side of the Spikes Tactical one at my LGS so for $10 more at 99 it went home over the 89 for the Aero and 79 for an Anderson. Yes, he Always has both of the 'A' mfg's in stock he sells about the same of each, we just happened upon a Spikes lower he ordered for a customer that cancelled later.
Now all that said, none of mine have gone into combat zones, or been used by SWAT they have been jam free over hundreds of reported rounds by myself and friends. I AM not by any means a builder of arms for whatever that means, I've just done some. There are many more qualified people here than myself.

A bit late to the party, but I've built a BUNCH of Anderson lowers. I would agree that they're every bit as good as any of the high dollar, big name lowers out there. No one in my family has a factory built AR, they're all my builds on Anderson lowers. Not one complaint or problem on any of them.
Absolutely great lower at a price point that can't be beat.

Chad has given a lot of good information from his channel and dispelled a lot of common AR myths..I had the pleasure of meeting him this summer when we both attended the Colt armorers class at Gunsite Academy..From what many of his students I talked to at the Colt class said was Chad is only giving the tip of the iceberg of info we see from his channel..Many of his students were very experienced and knowledgeable about the AR platform, yet they were all quite adamant about their high opinion of Chad and his incredible knowledge and information he teaches.. My personal observation of Chad is he is a very sharp individual and is well versed on the AR platform like no other I have seen..He is also a hell of a great guy that I had a lot in common with..If a person needed information or training on the AR platform, there is none better than SOTAR..

Anderson is fine for budget builds imo. The finish is definitely subpar, but at that price point you can't expect everything.
I currently have an Anderson lower, PSA, Old school Bushmaster, an old mega machine contracted lower, a sons of liberty gun works lower, 2 aero lowers, 2 EDC tactical and an Alexandria Pro Fab lower. The Anderson is definitely the lowest quality of the group (with the EDC coming in close second), and I sold off 3 other Anderson lowers. But there are not mechanical or tolerance issues at all. The only reason I kept this Anderson lower? It was what I grabbed when I made an SBR and now cant get rid of it. Going forward I doubt I will use their lowers for my own builds, not because I am afraid they wont work, I just like the ever so slightly tighter fit between upper and lower I get on higher end receivers and I like the finish a lot better, especially on the SOLGW receivers.

Now I did have issues with an Anderson barrel, gas port was way too small and chamber out of spec. But after 15+ years of building AR platform weapons I have made my choices and I like brands that offer better odds of getting good parts.
