Waiting on a 28" krieger varmatch to finish this one up.

I live in California so please excuse the goofy grip/stock thing. It's either that or fixed mag + 10rd limit, or one of those fin deals.

Unsure if I want to run over the barrel or under... you can't see the mount on top at lowest magnification and closest parallax so that's cool.

Also that charging handle you have essentially makes the gun into a bolt action correct? Pretty neat, does it function well, also why did you go with that instead of a normal charging handle?

it does not convert it into a bolt action. its just a devil dog concepts side charger that attaches to the pic rail. I put it on because i like side chargers. functions perfect (this is my 4th one) and does not reciprocate like a normal side charger. the bolt action conversion you are thinking of is the "kali key" and its utter trash. I have one, and I only keep it for "the darkest of times" otherwise fixed mag or featureless is far superior.

the slate black stuff is i dont know. its the only mlok panels I have ever bought so I have no other point of reference. I can say that the quality of the parts manufacture is mediocre based on my personal standards and experience of other injection molded parts. Frays from the injection molding, little deformation but nothing serious that cant be fixed up with some sand paper.

From order to ship was 6 weeks from krieger. I consider this abnormal and I got very lucky.

I might/probably skip the odin block. The krieger branded gas block fits much tighter and I think I'll need all of the gas anyways.





Onto assembly, load up some virgin lapua and head to the range. I have some 130 eldm left over ammo ready to go from last match, I know the velocity out of 22" so I'll probably have a apples to apples comparison while breaking in (my break in is clean barrel, go shoot like 20-40 rounds clean it, go shoot the next day another 50, clean it again, then it's cleaning every 200 or so like normal)

I know I know.... work up but honestly the confidence I have in that this is a mild charge is quite high. I'll ensure everything dimensionally is sound before firing as well in the event I don't have as much runway to the lands.

Installed, bedded, gas tube is floated. Off to load some ammo and take some measurements.

Oh, this is how it compares against 2x 22" grendels. Not a whole lot of extra length and the bipod offsets the extra length visually imo.

Haven't made it to the range yet. Only got as far as checking if the magnetospeed mount still was fine or if I needed to screw on the extension. (It's fine)

Took it out for some sight in and function check.

Speed is... more than expected by about 50fps. 28.5 (light charge imo) was already over 2500fps.


Accuracy... its there with the 123gr I tried today. That 5 shot group would have been smaller but shooter error.



123gr eldm, new lapua brass, 28.5gr LVR, 2.258 COAL

Sd and es not great but expected since I was just throwing charges, not double checking and wanted to just load up quick for function test, sight in, and break in. I have chrono data for 25 shots to ensure things were looking normal.



I do believe it will run in the high 2700s once a proper charge of about 30gr is set behind the pill. This will be perfect for the intended use case I have in mind.

One final thing... the gun weighs some 18lbs with bipod and no ammo. I enjoyed every ounce of it today. Once I got over how little recoil there was and trusted that the hole on paper came from my gun and there wasn't a malfunction it is an absolute joy to shoot prone. No muzzle device needed, softest shooting gun I own besides a 22lr marlin.
