I ordered the Diamondback tactical FFP 6-24×50 MOA.
I don't have a high magnification scope for load testing. My highest is a 3-14 i believe. So now with my tired old eyes behind this new scope i should be able to work up loads with better precision. I have at least 3 rifles i want to work up loads for. My newest being my grendel which for hunting will be wearing a 2.5-10 swfa.
I ordered a Weaver 1 pc picatinny scope mount for it.
Anybody else running something similar ? I have read the reviews and for a splurge type purchase i think it should be ok for range work as thats all i have in mind for it. Probably shooting as far out as i can find with the 6.5 and my .270.

I have 2 at the same power with mil/mil FFP. Hard to beat for the money, some complain about a thin reticle, I happen to like that, the other complaint is the parallax yardage, which i semi-agree with, there isn't a zero stop. They both hold zero and are fine for cheap scopes. I have had one for about a year and another for a few months, purchased because I couldn't make up my mind on a better scope. While not as bright or clear as my US Optics, Brea vintage, they are not 6x the price either. They do punch above their weight, just don't expect the features of a more expensive scope. I have one mounted to an EGW cheap 20 moa raiil. came with the gun, and another to an EGW heavy duty 20 moa rail. One on a 6.5 Creedmoor, the other on a .308 Win. Between mirage and my pulse, about 20X is my max magnification. I have only used them at a KD range.

Thank you for the feedback mesa1978. For my first high magnification scope. It sounds like this will do for what i need.

For your uses it should work great. If I were a serious competitor or one that cranks the dials a lot I would spend more $ but at todays prices of shooting I am not doing that and haven't in several years.
I have a Tasco 6-24X50 scope from the 90s I use for load workup some times, not great glass but functional for load development.

I have several vortexes and 2 of the older 4-16x44 DBK tacticals. I find them to be a good scope, and like you I faced needing more scope ffor older eyes. Which is why I tell folks who ask about what scope, I say it depends most upon your own eyes and what they need.
One of those 4-16's is still on my 243, which is a tack driver with 100 SBT's, but for grendel, 6Arc, and my creed's I'm using slightly better pst's, or the occasional strike eagle 3-18's. Lots of guys opine they don't need that much magnification but I do and I'm the one pulling the trigger.
I imagine that 6-24 will reach out to 1000 but you'll know as you look through it and try it. I got out to 1000, although 600+ was better, with a 4-16 HST on my 6.5 CM. 1000 was stretching that one to be sure.
MY strike eagle 18's can see 1000, I have a bldg off in the distance ~950 that I range to just for looking thru scopes, and it goes there fine, so the 6-24 of yours ought to get there. The only drawback I saw with my 4-16 DBK tacticals was the reticle was a tad too thin for me to use easily. But that's probably up to the individual.
PST's are top end for me b/c of the economics... but I feel I can do 500-600 ok with the tools I have.
Maybe 1000 is I work at it -- for that, not until the reloading craziness wears off though.

It may be a little late to help since you've already ordered but you should check out A&A Optics.
They sell refurbished Vortex scopes with the same Lifetime Warranty for about 2/3 the price of new.
I haven't checked their website in a while though so things may have changed.

Thank you for the heads up on the refurbished scopes. Yup little late. Have it in hand and the weaver mount came in so just have to make the time to get it squared away. Gonna prep some brass to start some load workup this coming labor day weekend. Seems i get minute of deer and call it good. This year with this scope i should have no excuses for finding moa loads.

I have 2 Vortex Viper HS LR scopes, 6-24x50 FFP - love them! I do the same as you are thinking. Higher power for working up loads and then switch to lower for hunting. Works better for me.

JethroBodine: I am older and my eyesight is not really compatible with iron sights. My main interest is hunting. But while working up loads i really want to use 200 yards as my goto as it should weed out the contenders from the pretenders. While i an sure my hunting scopes are capable of putting hits on target at thet range i feel more precision is what i need. I ended up with some back pay from my job and while i know you get what you pay for it think this new scope will be sufficient for my needs. It does look pretty wild on my rifle tho lol

I had a strange issue with not 1, not 2, but 3 of these scopes. Originally purchased April 2019 and mounted in a Larue LT204, rings torqued to 18 inlb. This bound up the parallax adjustment about 1/3 through it's rotation. Moved it to an Aero, then a GG&G w/ same torque, the problem stayed. Vortex CS was great (of course) and sent a 2nd DBT 6-24x50. Same damn problem in all three mounts. A DBT 4-16x44 did NOT have this issue torqued to 20 inlb in the same mounts. So, get a 3rd copy from Vortex and yup, same issue yet again, even at a ridiculous 12 inlb... At this point I was ready to ask them for a 4-16 replacement, but before I could, CS Rhonda (she rocks!) told me they were shipping a Strike Eagle 5-25x56 plus a 34mm mount at 0 cost to solve the problem. And it did! Torqued to 20 inlb back in the LT204 - works as it should. So, hats off to Vortex CS, they gave me a serious bump up for $0, but it's fairly troubling that 3 copies of the DBT had the same issue...

Yes i seemed to be having problems with my horizontal adjustments. Could not get them to move. Rings were tightened to specs. I will have to play around with it some more before deciding on a course of action.

I've got a Strike Eagle 5-25. It sucks you had the problem with the binding up on the less expensive Vortex scopes, but why did you torque up to 20 in-lbs with the Strike Eagle? The manual suggests 15-18 in-lbs if you are not using thread locker, < 11 in-lbs. with thread locker.
Forgive me if I'm missing something obvious, but did the parallax adjustment work on those scopes when they were unmounted?

Junk Chinese scopes. They price the $99 pos at a price point where the gullible will think they are a good scope. The American mfg ones, $1000+ may be good but why on earth would I spend a grand on one when I could spend my money on a Leupold or Burris. Cute names dont make it for me. Razor. Strike eagle bla bla bla.
