MDT Creates 6.5 Grendel Magazines

Best known for their drop-in chassis systems, MDT (Modular Driven Technologies) has created metal double-stack-to-single-feed magazines for bolt-action rifles in 6.5 Grendel/6mmARC. Take a look on their website HERE.

MDT makes a chassis for the Howa Mini Bolt Action, currently chambered in 6.5 Grendel, so these magazines will find a home.

That seals the deal. I'm getting me another howa and having a custom barrel put on, the bolt fluted, custom bolt knob and when this mag and chassis is on the market I'm building one up.

MDT 10-round magazines are approximately ¾” shorter in height than standard AICS 10-round magazines due to MDT’s unique Double Stack to Single Feed (DSSF) transition design, allowing easier mag changes when shooting prone.

Very nice. The middle one here is 2.430” COAL for reference.

From the pictures, I don't see that working with a Howa Mini. The magazine body is too long for the Howa Mini receiver and it looks like there is a block in the rear of the magazine that would put the round to far forward to feed. It looks to me like it was developed for a standard short action receiver.

I hope it's not simply a blocked short-action magazine. That is NOT optimal if one can't use them with a true mini action receiver.

Their website description sounds to me like it is designed for an AICS mag well.
Not good for howa or othr mini-actions imo.

They are a blocked short action mag. I bought one for my R700 grendel I put together to test out. Works great. Be even better if they’d offer a five round.

I just ordered three of them, about 300 bucks in total. For an R 700 footprint rifle. I have no expectation they will ever work with my Howa Mini, but if MDT were to make a metal Howa Mini mag I would poop myself with glee.
