Anybody familiar with the work that Mark Hostetter does with Precision Firearms?
They make some very good looking ARs, use top quality barrels, and offer great accuracy guarantees. I'm thinking of having him build me an AR with a tactical upper and more of a match accuracy/long range upper.
Any experiences with him and/or his guns? Any other suggestions on a good AR gunsmith?

I have two PF Grendels. Outstanding quality and accurate. Would not hesitate to order from Mark again.

^^^Agree. There is a reason that PF keeps coming up as the first recommendation for precision barrels for AR platform on this forum as well as others. They do exceptional work. Buy once, cry once and then enjoy using it from the moment you receive it without any afterthoughts or regret.

I had Mark spin up my my current 6.5 Criterion barrel for my build. It shoots lights out. He did miss the delivery date he stated by 6 weeks though, and I was not aware until I had finished this build that I needed a 1mm shim installed on the gas block barrel shoulder (in order to get this rifle to fully cycle). I will once again state that this rifle is a shooter! 
Speed is Fine, Accuracy is final....but accurate hits at extremely high speed is final much faster.
I don't think you understand, these boys killed my dog!
Taking the gun off safe increases the velocity by 100%

Of 4 Grendel uppers I have, 2 purchased and 2 self assembled - the PF is the most accurate. It took some time to get it, but was worth it.

I did some independent testing for PF on a customer-returned upper where there were complaints of accuracy issues.
After taking them to the range and shooting some groups, I let Mark know that if the customer was interested, I would buy the upper.
I put at least 8 rounds through a bughole at 100yds with PF 123gr SMK in Lapua brass. It shot better than every bolt gun Ive ever fired except for a 6mm PPC heavy bench rest rifle where there was no way of counting holes in 10rd groups.
I used to do accuracy-testing for a company making precision bolt guns, so I would pick up a truckload of rifles and take them to the range for all-day sessions, shot from a rifle rest with cases of ammo to feed them. Lots of those rifles had Krieger barrels, and they would shoot out of the gate. I was required to provide 1/2 3rd groups or the rifles didnt ship. Anyway, the point is that in addition to all the other bolt guns and gas guns Ive been shooting since 1982 on a regular basis, I know an accurate rifle when I get behind one.
In the case of the returned upper, it was simply a matter of the customer not being familiar with the techniques required to shoot a gas gun to its potential, which is quite a bit different than shooting a bolt gun.
I sent photos of the groups that the upper would produce consistently, and the customer couldnt get it back fast enough.
Man I wanted that upper. I think it was a 20 Bartlein in one of PFs billet receivers. Natural laser with frightening accuracy.

You are making me want t0 put my 24" PF barrelled upper back on the rifle and head out to the range. Of course on a good day I typically shoot 1 to 1.25 MOA so not quite the same as you.

Just ordered one of their barrels in 6 ARC. Got the Criterion barrel, no need for a Bartlein at this time since I am still learning gas gun shooting technique. I will be happy if I can stay under 1 MOA vertical spreads out to 800.

With 6mm and the lighter bullets, they are actually a lot easier to shoot, not much different than .223 Rem in the AR-15, at least for me.
Same with 85-100gr in 6.5mm. Very pleasant, dont have to drive the gas gun fundamentals as hard.

I am happy with my 20 in Criterion barrel and BCG from PF, 6.5 Grendel. Still working through the kinks on ammo but close to 1 MOA with factory ammo, Federal American Eagle 120 gr OTM (sierra bullet?). I am not a great marksmen, not even sure I am average, so it might already be sub. Purchased in early august, 10-12 week lead time. Beat it so badly I received the barrel in the same month.

I'm more than happy with the items I've gotten from Mark at PF. I have an billet upper along with his BCG on my Grendel AR & a 6mmARC barrel on another AR.
I refuse to be victimized by notions of virtuous behavior.

I have a 6.5 upper on order and a 233 Wylde. I am super excited about the Grendel and the Bartlein barrel. That order was placed on a October so hopefully its getting close.

purchased a Lilja barrel from Mark and built upper with it. thing is a laser.

I have a 12" krieger barrel from mark and have consistent 8 shot groups under .6 moa at 100 yards with my own loads. He does great work.
