Greetings from the icy cold of Central Minnesota. I found this site while looking for parts and build advice. I received an Odin Works barrel and BCG for Christmas and now I'm building my first Grendel 6.5. I have built 5.56 AR's before, but this is my first experience with a non-standard caliber and also my first experience of building a complete upper from scratch. I will be asking nicely where to get components (flash suppressors, magazines) and any tricks of the trade regarding attaching the barrel to the upper, etc.
I have an upper and lower in transit, and looking forward to the build.
I look forward to chatting with folks.

Welcome to the clan, ps, from the great nation of Texas! I wondered your frozen wastelands for several years, some of it is very pretty in either white or green!
A poor assembly will make even the best selections of barrels and uppers less than steller and, conversely, a really good assembly methodology can take lesser quality parts and deliver pretty amazing results. There are a lot of threads across these pages about trueing up the upper receiver prior to mounting the barrel. Makes an incredible difference! There was an article in G&A a few years ago by Peyton Sweeney about his journey thru rebuilding an AR and he states that he was amazed at the difference trueing up the upper receiver made.

I do a pretty expensive accuracy built process that isnt like slapping parts together, and has worked for me every time over many years now.
Ive been pretty deep into ARs since the late 1980s, always trying to learn more.
