CZ600 reminds me of a Savage switch barrel and floating bolt head without the barrel nut. Interesting design though incorporating the ar bolt-lock feature into a bolt gun.

It is the best rifle I have ever held in my hand. Good looking, smooth cycling, reliable, accurate.

yup I would have been all over that also, their magazines are the best, the rest of the gun is pretty amazing also
I'm quietly keeping an eye peeled for older Ruger m77 7.62x39's...those stainless ones with the boat paddle stock, would be a pretty slick Little Grendel with just a barrel swap. Something to keep in mind or try and hunt down in your part of the world? That should stand it above the current choices and be the only stainless choice to boot, Sako is missing the boat imo by not chambering the XS stainless in Grendel, they are always super late to the party, look how long it took them to get 6.5 creedmoors chambered...sigh.
As it is my Ruger is sort of like an AR built for abuse and rough handling, I really like that it's somewhat rough around the edges and built for use and abuse etc. so it suits me and it's putting the game down really well.
I haven't been able to stomach the savage rifles. The first one looks interesting if its actually AR length magazine, if just spacer aics then no. And up here in Canada if we rebarrel a rifle the gunsmiths have to do 18.5" so it's a no go, dumb laws I know, we can buy it with 16" but can't rebarrel to that. Good eye, and yes maybe the 6mm ARC will become popular enough with the typical manufacturers we like for usual centerfire short action and longer cartridges...c'mon Sako.
Upon closer inspection I see Ruger built the action with a "valley of death".
The feed ramp is about a half inch from the chamber.
When feeding a round the mag follower or next round pushes the case head up, which rotates the nose down, and then T-bones the flat face of the chamber.

So I get it now. Cut two coils off the mag spring.
Seems to feed now.

I've got that M77 you're speaking about!! And as someone who had quite the collection of Ruger Paddle Stocks at one time, I shudder to think of changing the barrel on the 7.62X39. Its one of the more "rare" ones! But having said that, you'd have quite the Grendel! Lol

Anyone used or shot the Magpul stock on the RAH? I think Id like to switch the Ruger stock for that one. Has riser and spacers, but seems much heavier. I dont want to add a lot of weight.
ETA: nevermind, I dont think that it would work due it being platformed for 7.62 and also not looking like it accepts the AR style mags. Correct me if Im wrong or missing something please.

I tried it and could never get it to feed worth a crap, even with AI mags and the Primal Rights Conversion kit. Plus it ended being too heavy for I wanted. Went back to the factory stock, cut two coils off the AR Mag, 4 inches off the barrel, now Im happy. Runs great and has much better balance. IMO

No! How is the bolt going to close and lock up if you fill it in with epoxy?
You could have a gunsmith radius the edge of the chamber entrance, to create a larger opening and more of a ramp the guide the projectile into the chamber. I had to do that with a Savage 223, feeds everything now.
Id give the new Mag a chance, I havent had any lingering issues since I modified mine. Runs 90 TNT up to Nos 129 ABLRs almost flawlessly now.

Try using a the mag well from the x39 Ranch and using the mini-30 mags. Ive only fired about 20rds through my Grendel Ranch, but no feed issues or needing to work the bolt hard. Its a $30 part via Ruger, IIRC. I already had mini-30 mags, so it wasnt too much of an investment for me. It works and the mags dont hang down as far as the AR mags do so there is less snagging potential and it looks cleaner.
Victor Company makes inexpensive screw on adjustable cheek rests that are rock solid and impervious to the weather. Not the most eye pleasing elegant solution but its cheap, lightweight and effective.
