2-10ish FFP. Side focus

Just built 6.5 Gren pistol. So far all Ive found is the March and the Nightforce. Heard Swampfox was building one but no info on it yet. Any others out there? Has to be parallax adjustable and prefer mils.

I have the Swampfox KY long 2-12 for 2 yrs now and love it. I ditched a vortex Viper PST 2-10 for it. I have a ton of pics on my phone and would be glad to talk to you at length about it. If you want to PM me I'll shoot you my phone number and we can talk more and I can send you a lot more pics. I use it dedicated for predator and javelina hunting and it's a dream.

My personal recommendation as well, with Griffen reticle in particular. The challenge with FFP, is that the reticle and line thickness becomes 1/5th as thick, and so very fine and difficult to see at the lower power magnification. I have the PA 3-18 SLx scope, which is a decent scope, but that FFP scope is almost useless at 3X as you just can't see the reticle or the lines, and have to search for it.

Yet, at the low power magnificaiton, is when the reticle needs to be the most prominant and snap-visible, since this will be the setting you will be on for closer enouncters, and when stalking. The PA 2.5-10 GLX (be sure to get the one with Griffen reticle)is the only scope in my opinion that balances the spectrum of going LOW enough in power to be good and useful at the low power setting, AND has a highly visible reticle suitable to snap shooting while at that setting. Yet, at the some time, is a precision reticle with a quality drop grid when viewed at the hgh setting. It also happens to be a high quality scope of very good quality glass, construction, dials and features.

My only real complaint, is that it is heavy. But in truth, pretty much all 2.5-10 scopes are quite heavy, and this one is lighter than some.

Here is the reticle. At high magnification, you focus on the tip of the chevron, or the mil-reticle tree below it. You don't even see or notich the rest, as it's irrelevant and you aren't looking there when precision aiming at high magnificaiton.
But at low 2.5x magnification, when everything get's 1/4 the thickness and size, the christmas tree all but disappears, and the circle essentially zooms in (if you will) to be the front and center part of the scope now, and is a very good snap shoot reticle, with the chevron (which illuminates) being a nice dot in the center. Making for a good quick target acquisition as well as precision aiming on the dot if time allows, scope. It's a very good system that most FFP providers don't do a good job of addressing, IMHO.

I suspect almost all 2.5-10x optics have parrallax adjustment. The PA has parralax adjustment via a dial on the left of the scope. I quite like it, as it goes down to as close as 10 yards (not common), and all the way out, with good incremental markings and a decent throw allowing finer adjustments than many. The straight-tube tactical scopes are a different class than these. These types of scopes have the larger light gathering front bell, but with that, comes the optical tradeoff of greater sensativity to parralax. So almost everyone who makes a tactical scope with an elarged inlet lense, will have adjustable parralax - because you have to. With those smaller 1-6 straight-tube scopes, the maginfication and smaller lense, lets you get away with a fixed parralax.

This is exactly why I just don't want to give up my first gen PSTs. Nicer scopes have come along but it's difficult to find a sub 20 ounce scope with a 10X magnification. Ironically, with the Griffin reticle you could ditch those big, heavy turrets.

I read this, did some research, and realized my statement wasn't quite accurate. I should have said it's difficult to find a sub 20 ounce scope with 10x magnification that my wife would let me buy!
