Lapua makes a 100 grain FMJ with a stunning BC of .250! Also check the BC on their 144gr FMJBT.

That Lapua 100 gr FMJ looks to be as perfect as you will get with a tangent ogive flat base bullet. I bet that bullet is super accurate to 300. I would shoot it at 200 and 300 without hesitation. 500 too if there was little wind. .250 is about right for the design and G-1 would be more honest than G-7 with a flat base bullet.

In that case I would recommend FMJ bullets from 90 to 123gns in a barrel from 10" to 20".

I’m pretty sure Graf’s has sold this FMJ as a loading component. Graf’s and Son has a good listing of available 6.5/.264 bullets. Serbia is using the 6.5 Grendel in a AK variant and I believe they have several bullets in use including the PPU 110 FMJ. PPU is manufactured in Serbia and has supplied the Serbian armed forces with 6.5 Grendel (aka 6.5x39 or 6.5x38). There are the long heavy 150-160 grain round nose FMJ commonly loaded in the 6.5 Jap 6.5 M/S and other 6.5 cartridges from the late 1800’s to the 1930’s. PPU sells a 139 grain FMJ and Lapua sell a 144 grain 6.5 caliber bullet as well as the 100 grain FMJ.

If so, then for 500 msl:
16" 2510, 600yd 1464 ft/s, 523 ke
18", 2570, 600yd- 1505 ft/s, 553 ke
20", 2614, 600 yd - 1536 ft/s, 576 ke

And all adjustments for elevation would flow from these. But they all look to be above his min reqts.
(ie, -100 elev for the 16" leads to 1445 ft/s, which would stay above 1320 for -300 elev)
A 0.411 vice the original 0.420 for the 123 bt is not much of a BC change at these distances...

20" 1/9 with 107 SMK's shot a 10-round perfect clean this weekend at 500 yards.

Note the grid is MOA. Targets measure velocity at impact as well, as indicated in teh top right section.


So the next day, it shot a 20 round 600 yard match, with another perfect clean.

Felt pretty darned good about that! Top score at the match there.



When any sort of distance beyond about 300 yards is involved, I definately like a 20". I tried repeating with a 15" pin and weld, that shoots very tight at closer range, and didn't score quite as well.

I will say, the new AR-Tactical catagory is a total blast. You get to shoot 600 yards prone with a bipod, but on a service rifle target, not an F-Class target.
