Hello everyone, really looking forward to being on the board and learning from you all. South central Texas here almost done with my first 6.5 grendel build FINALLY, Ive had the lower for 2+ years and with the shortages and covid could never find the upper I wanted.
Aero Precision lower
Odin Works type 2 complete upper w/ 18 intermediate barrel
Larue tactical RAT stock
Magpul moe K-2 pistol grip
Havent decided which for the following 2 triggers I want to put on. Suggestions welcomed
Larue tactical MBT 2stage trigger $89
Geissele Automatics G2S Two Stage AR-15 Trigger .154" $115
Any thoughts on an optic welcomed as well, been going back and forth on it. It will mostly be used for hogs, nothing more than 200-250 yards and mostly less than 150. Trying to stay around $300-$400.

Welcome to the fray. I have the Larue MBT on both my lowers and see no reason to change, though I haven't tried the Geissele G2S.

I've got both triggers & I, personally, can't say one is better than the other. I'd say go with the LaRue for the money savings.
As for scopes, at the ranges you mentioned, you shouldn't need any more that a 1-6X scope. What brand? For $300-$400, there's a bunch of good scopes that will fit your needs... Leupold, Vortex, Burris, Primary Arms...

Welcome to the forum Hayden55! I also have a Geissele G2S and the LaRue MBT 2S. I recommend the LaRue as it is cheaper and I dont like the e clips on the G2S. Swampfox has some very good sales on their LPVO and might be worth checking out. I also like 2.5-10, 4-12 or 4-16 as they work well for me at closer range shooting both eyes open but I like higher magnification for shooting at greater distance whether paper or steel.

Thanks! Yea Ive got several vortex on other guns including red dots for my pistols and other deer rifles. so I was def leaning towards them.

Thanks! Yea Ive got several vortex on other guns including red dots for my pistols and other deer rifles. so I was def leaning towards them. I was looking at the crossfire 2 3x9 but Im just not sure exactly what Im looking to do yet.

I have a Couple of Vortex Diamondback HP that are made in the Philipines with Adjustable Objective (4-12x40 and 4-16x42) but they have been discontinued. I like the looks of the Burris but dont own any but my Brother has used and likes Burris optics. I checked and the Swampfox sale has ended.
Euro Optics and Sport Optics sell some discontinued optics for very good prices and AA Optics sell refurbished Vortex Optics. A Friend bought a Vortex Viper HST from AA Optics and it has been a very good scope. The refurbished can be display models or repaired but still have the full warranty. The HST my Friend bought didnt have a mark on it and was brand new but still sold as a refurb.

Welcome to the clan,Hb55, from another loyal Texian! Have been in far N. Tx for about 50 yrs but originally from extreme south Texas! Your grocery list shows good choices. For glass, I prefer Athlon, have 5 of 'em and love 'em! All are FFP which makes ranging a piece of cake. For hoggin', just be sure that the lower power is low enough.
