First 6.5 Grendel upper question

I currently have a CMTT build in 5.56 with a carbine buffer tube and mid length gas system. I am mostly done with a 6.5 Grendel upper for it with a 20" Shilen barrel and a JP rifles adjustable gas block rifle length gas tube can i run the Grendel on a carbine length buffer system? I have heard the dwell time can give short stroking issues? What's the best setup to be able to run both uppers on the same lower with the least changes between swaps?

I run my 20” Shilen on a carbine length spring and carbine buffer. I have a JP adjustable gas block but have never needed to adjust it once initially installed. With an adjustable gas block you should be able to adjust the gas to work with about any buffer weight. If I were building my Shilen today I wouldn’t use an adjustable gas block. I don’t use suppressors and with the proper size gas port the 20” rifle length gas 6.5 Grendel is very smooth shooting rifle.
