Hornady ammo hitting the lands 6.5 RAP

Just picked up a new 6.5 Rap and factory Hornady blacks are hitting the lands. I tried some nosler 85g and Federal fusions 120s and they cycle fine. I also tried cycling some 95g Hornady hand loads and they have the same issue as the blacks... Is my chamber to short or is it a issue with the ammo?

I haven't had any issues with my RAP and the Hornady Black ammo. I would say you might have a short throat on yours.

Curious...what's the OAL of the ammo?

I haven't measured the Black yet. The 95g are 2.245 right on the manual's length. I'm going to measure the feds and nosler tonight. It's just weird that only hornady bullets have issue. I have midsouth monster 100g that fit as well.

It's a short chamber. Contact the manufacturer are company you bought it from and get it sent in for replacment.

I was going to get ready and type that the swirls you see on the bullet are not from the rifling BEFORE looking at your picture but that is definitely bullet on lands. Looks like Ruger let one out the door as a Grendel "short" unless the bolt face is way off.

no isssues with my ruger american ranch, i do have hornady black and now some barnes 115gr vortx ammo and the barnes is noticeably shorter, however the hornady black fits nicely into the AR magazines so i don't think it's over length, something up with your rifle

Ruger re-barreled the rifle and sending a new mag as well. Hopefully everything works this time.

I'm not surprised at their turn-around times. Ruger has great customer service. If you need them, they are there and they are proactive.

Got it back yesterday... Ruger said that they ran 20 hornady bullets threw to make sure no issues. I tried my own ammo and they feed with no issues. Now waiting on a scope to fully test.
