6.5 grendel bolt type

I recently started building a Grendel like a dummy when parts is non existent. I bought a Er Shaw barrel since they had a 18” in stock and on sale. It came it and looks great I read on their website they used a 7.62x39 bolt Not a type 2 bolt, is there any down side to this ? or less desirable ? Or less accurate ? Also has anybody here shot any of the Shaw barrels

Weaker extractor is what I have come to believe from the years of reading this same question posted on this fourm.

Order up a 7.62x39 bolt of your liking and go rock that thing.

Did you order directly from Shaw or get it from JSE Surplus or other vendor? I don’t think an x39 bolt would have any negative effect on accuracy. If you run ammo over 5200 PSI or over gassed you’ll get shorter bolt life whether .125 or .136 bolt face depth. I keep spare extractors and bolts in case I get a failure.

I broke an extractor on an over gassed 16” 6.5 Grendel .136” bolt. Squaring the receiver face can help keep proper alignment between barrel and bolt. Things not being square can shorten component life.

I ordered it direct from Shaw, I have 34 rounds down the tube and for me it’s a shooter it’s shooting sub moa with factory hornady sst. I got dies recently and pills Need to start loading and see what it will really do
