A few years ago Barnes made up some 110gr solid 6.5 bullets. I shot some varmits with them and they did NOT damage the pelt If any ever come back on the market every varmit hunter should buy a couple hundred.

Yea, the cost is what keeps me from the Barnes. Swift Sciroccos are in that same boat. Great bullets though. I just can get the same results from a much less expensive bullet.

I'm new to the 6.5G game and in the process of picking my first bullet for yotes. Think I'll go with the Hornady 95 V-Max based upon my results with the 65 V-Max in my Lilja .243. Little hole going in, big mess inside, no exit hole. That 65 V has been good to me, so the 95 V in 6.5G seems like a possibility. R

I'd be cautious on that one. I'd wager you may get a small hole and then a large one where the fragmentation cavity stretches past the hide of the yote on the other side.WinkBig Grin I could be wrong though. I'm just guessing based on the extra 30 grains of lead. Worth trying though.

For non-expansion/non-fragmentation I'd try the 120gr. Norma FMJ on hides. It may do the least damage if no other solids are available.

The Norma 120 grain Full Metal Jacket (FMJ) is perfect for saving pelts. Shoots very accurately too. They are in and out of stock at Midway.
