New to 65g builds

So I'm doing a new build and my first in 65g. I'm looking at barrels and have narrowed it down to faxon, ballistic advantage and MONSTER.

Im going to use the build for hunting and range time but mostly whitetail deer.

I won't be doing any 1k yd shots but I'd like the nicest barrel I can get with the best accuracy for the money.

Which would you recommend?

And which bolt to go with it?

I have narrowed down to those 3 options. Just looking for recommendations between the 3. Or if anybody knows something better around the same price

well the faxon and ba go from 220-320
the higher end puts you into the area of a criterion, which i would choose over the ones listed due to better reputation
on the lower end, the monsters get decent reviews also

there are reviews onsite of the various barrels
for hunting out to 300yds or so. probably any of the ones you listed should work

If all your doing is hunting or shooting at 100 yards and only expect hunting accuracy then monster all day and spend the savings on upgraded optic or trigger. If you want the probability of a better barrel then faxon

I'm not really interested in precision long distance shooting with this build. I have a 6.5 creedmoor ar-10 setup for that. I'm gonna use this for hunting and self defense purposes but if I can get great accuracy out of one of these barrels that's what I want. I have a elftmann match trigger to go in this build

For what your trying to do. I would get the monster barrel, it will give you all you want.

what barrel length and what weight are you looking for? consider either sixfivearms 20" or a faxon gunner 20" for good velocity, rifle length gas system (less touchy). neither is really super heavy. if just for hunting you'll appreciate the lighter weight if you have to carry it a bunch.

Yes just for hunting and self defense don't do any precision stuff. I ended up ordering a monster barrel and bolt

Right now Shaw Custom Barrels has two 18" models on sale for $147. Until tomorrow they have an additional 15% off, so the total is $125 + shipping (I think it's $21 ish).

The Shaw barrels listed are H-Bar and chambered to use 7.62x39 bolt. I have three Monster barrels and Millennium bolts, I’d much rather have the Monster barrels. The Faxon or Green Mountain Monster barrels are very handy versatile barrels at a very good price. I have a couple of H-Bar AR-15’s but I really like the contour of the Monster barrels.
