I can say this my handloaded 120 grain PPU BTHP with 31.8 grains of Leverevelotion works very good. I was hunting the same area, I got my first bear in the beginning of the season. I hiked to the clearing and scoped it out all day only to see a few deer. As dusk started to come, I headed back through the timber. I no more than got 50 yards in and started hearing something snapping branches and such. I hopped up on a log to try and get a better view over the brush as I walked along the log some of the bark gave way. I fell hitting my right shoulder and instantly my arm felt numb. As I got to my feet, I heard teeth popping then saw the bear rushing towards me. The boar stood up about 15 yards in front of me...Full of adrenalin I raised my 6.5 and sent a shot right in his chest, bullet exited his right shoulder as can be seen in the picture. He dropped on the spot and let out the most terrifying death moan that echoed through the timber to send every hair on your body to stand-up on end. By the time I packed him out and got to the truck heading home...I realized I really screwed my shoulder up, it was hurting bad! I got home and called my son to come over and finish taking care of the bear. Next morning was soooo painful, I had the wife take me to urgent care. Come to find out I broke my right clavicle. Guess I am done hunting this year!
Wow, glad the bear didnt get to you. A broken collar bone is no fun especially if trying to defend yourself. Hopefully the clavicle heals and sounds better than a torn rotator cup or something more serious. Just goes to show life happens, Id blame it on 2020, strange year.

Yeah, glad he dropped right away..I am sure it was a false charge at me as he stood up when he got near. If he wanted to eat me he probably wouldn't have stood up. I did however have a little butt pucker factor going on....I will admit.

The scary part is that it was most likely out there watching you for who knows how long, just waiting for his moment! A friend of a neighbor was bow hunting up in Montana. As the morning progressed, he had a creepy feeling that just would not go away. Finally, he squirmed around in his stand and saw the biggest Grissly that he had ever seen less than 25 yards behind him. It's those sphincter testing moments that we will remember the longest. You handled yourself very well, 'ol Daniel and Davy would be proud of you. By the way, is the little woman going to let you out of the back yard ever again?
As far as your hunting being over, man up and switch to being a leftie. I had to after cataract surgery left me with better vision out of my left eye than the right one. It isn't that difficult, just a case of mind over matter.

Congrats on the bear and I will say you are one tough man. getting a bear out and taken care of as much as you did after that could not have felt good. Adrenaline can help mask pain and I am sure from the description of the encounter it was flowing a lot more than usual.

It was painful to get back to the truck for sure. But it was something I wouldn't forget that's for sure.

Yeah lol I could use my Glock 40 10mm with the red dot to hunt with but for sure I wouldn't be able to lift a rifle. I can shoot my pistol with my left hand.

The XDM 5.25 is nice I haven't shot one but held it. I love my Glock 40 10mm. I put a Holosun 508T reddot with TRUGLO Tritium suppressor height sights. It shoots very good with my handling of 200gr cast and 10.6 grains of bluedot for 1314 fps.
