See here is my problem with that. I keep hearing how they were to fix all these horrible feeding issues.
Can anyone step forward and honestly say they had feeding issues that were the result of their 10 round metal mags?
I have to be honest I have never had a feeding issue with any 10 round mag and can't really say I habe seen anyone say their feeding issues were caused by their 10 round mags.

Well I took the chance and ordered some magazines. I see folks posting they are single stack, well look down inside of the mag once loaded. They are double stacked except the upper 2-3 rounds. I have had one loaded for 1 week and its deformed already. Havnt shot it yet. So dont know if they function or not. It cant be that damn hard to find a material that would hold its shape. The Russians did it with the bakelite with their ak mags, why cant we do it?

I saw a post on ARF.Com where someone complained about Amend2 polymer 5.56/223 mag swelling after being left loaded. For the size I think Ill stick with 17 round E-Lander and maybe pick up a couple 20 round CPD/Duramag.

Except that 10 round metal magazines already feed just fine. It's when you go past 10 that some folks start having issues. So making a polymer magazine for enhanced reliability that only holds 10 rounds just doesn't make any sense or have a real purpose.
I dunno, I'm just one of the lucky ones who's never had a magazine issue out of the dozen or so 10 and 24 rounder Elanders I've used.

Swelling with Amend2 5.56 mags has been posted in other forums more than once, I was hoping this single stack/staggered design wouldnt swell. Considering the delay, kind of disappointing. I mostly shoot steel case, runs fine in elander 10s & 17s, CPD/Duramag 10s & 26s & ASC 15s but unloading by hand makes it clear steel doesnt feed as easily as brass.
This is where a GOOD poly mag can shine. The Teflon finish on CPDs is slick and plays well with steel case, much better than the gray finish on GI straight 20s.
I still wanted to try one of these til I saw CPD/Duramag has 6.5G 20s and ordered some of those.

I just tried out my Amend2 mags in 2 different Grendels to see what all the fuss was about.
Mine inserted fine and are snug.
They don't drop free, but I don't really care.
These are on Cerakoted guns with Cerakote inside the mag wells too.
Not that I've had any real mag problems as it was with CPD and Elanders.

A Lancer style Hybrid Steel/polymer mag is the only way to get a Grendel in current AR lowers to use polymer. Since the polymer will be too thin in the magwell If its 100% polymer.
At some point we might see a new Grendel Mag design if not that then itll be a new follower. But I think we all are hoping for the Lancer style Hybrid mag, until then Elander/Duramags will have to do.

I did take some measurements and mine swell from unloaded to loaded. I measured the top and midsection on two mags. Both enlarged upon loading. Greyfox...Cryo didn't help either..

It looks to me like the Amend2 magazine bulges when loaded because it is not a single-stack design, but a double-stack that transitions to a (short) single-stack.
If the wall thickness is the same as for the 5.56 mags, stuffing a double stack of 0.44" cartridges into a space sized for 0.37" rounds seems guaranteed to bulge.

I see no reason to think that the Lancer steel/polymer design is any more feasible than 100% polymer. If it were doable, I'd think that Lancer would already have done it.
