Grendel Ammo box

So 2 years ago I ordered a Maxim ammo box from Sportsmans Guide.

Needless to say it was a bit rusty and didn't look like that.

So I finally started reconditioning it this weekend.

Unfortunately I forgot to take a before picture.

I hit it with an orbital sander with 120 grit, down to the metal in most spots. I then wiped it down with vinegar, then rinsed it.

I have a green spray paint kind of close to OD.

So here it is, almost done.

If you look at the last pic, under the can is the remains of the strap. Its kind of blurry
So its a strip of webbing, with 2 metal clips that go outside the 2 pieces on the top.
So I punched out the little ferrule/pins, removed the webbing and I am soaking the ends in vinegar prior to scrubbing and repainting.
I will cut a piece of webbing, then reattach the ends.

I am going to either spray 6.5G on it or get some horde decals for it.

That's pretty cool. What also would be cool is a Maxim Grendel machine gun to go along with it!

Nice job PVBoom. Looking at the prices of US surplus cans at that link nearly makes me cry though. To me a .30 cal is $3 and a .50 is $5, ouch...
