Without gas assisting the unlocking you are going to have sticky bolts and will probably need to use your boot to get it unlocked. The novelty will wear off by about the second shot.

I've seen lots of videos of people running side chargers and haven't seen any reporting this issue. Care to elaborate at all?

Fired cases are hard to extract from the chamber without the leverage gas brings. The ergonomics of charge handles are not designed to assist here. Side charging will be better.

Turn off your gas and give it a go.
