I'm looking to build one but can't find someone who sells the upper receiver and BCG together. Everyone wants to sell me a BCA barrel if I buy a complete upper and I'm not real keen on that. I'm looking to put a nicer barrel on as this will reach out to 800ish...maybe 1,000 yards if I'm feeling feisty.
I looked at Gibbs but I'd rather have the charge handle on the right side as my left had will likely be tucked under controlling the sand sock while shooting at distance.
Help me find some bits and pieces please!

just buy a complete bca upper, then swap the barrel, they are usually cheaper than a side charging upper alone

A BCA side charger upper is 293 bucks ditch the barrel and add the barrel of your choice. Sell the BCA barrel for 80-90 bucks. Then you have a couple hundred in a upper and BCG. Just a thought

I have a Gibbz and think its a great design, especially due to the fact that you can use any BCG with it vs one that has to be tapped for the charging handle. That being the case you could always get a lefty version so you could charge with your right hand.

I wonder how it would be to have thebshells eject in front of my face? I know the lefties always complain about it...

I do, but it needs to be on the AR-15 lower.

uintah precision makes ar15 bolt action uppers, try contacting them
there are also pump action uppers out there, or were at one time

I like those, but $1100 for just an upper is above my pay grade.

I saw that Kali-Key thing. That doesn't look like a strong option, it just looks like a band aid. I appreciate your input though!

Not to sound rude but why don't you just buy a bolt action like the howa or CZ grendel.
Going throw all the trouble too make a pull action ar grendel just seems like a waist of time, energy and money.

MidwayUSA sells the upper and bcg. It's their "AR Stoner" brand, which is BCA. They're around $200.

Good luck. Make sure you order a gas tube and roll pin and keep them handy. Your not going to keep it as a pull action for very long.

Without gas assisting the unlocking you are going to have sticky bolts and will probably need to use your boot to get it unlocked. The novelty will wear off by about the second shot.

I have one. It's a non issue. I used a small spring between the bolt body and carrier for an assist. It extracts easily and theres less stress on the lugs and brass. I'll take some pictures when I get home tonight.

its pretty common in england for a strait pull ar, as semi autos are not legal

Is there a specific reason I won't? It will not be a high round count rifle. It's sole purpose will be long(ish) range shooting for fun.
