Experience With JP Barrels

Anyone running a JP 22”. What’s are your thoughts? I am currently running a 20” Ballistic Advantage

I use to own the 18 inch light weight they offer. Sold it to my best friend and built it up into his sons first deer rifle.

Fine barrel super light weight. Constantly sub moa, never a problem with it at all.

Never heard of a JP barrel being bad but that's based on the few guys I know who run them.

I ordered the 22” yesterday. I seen you had experience with them. I believe my BA is great but I have to step it up to something more consistent. I’ll use the BA on a hunting rifle for my son.

Thanks for the replies and always great info. If it doesn’t shoot now it’s the shooter not the barrel. Hahaha. I will report back as soon as I get it together. I will break it in with Hornady Black and then work up the loads again.

My barrel came in today. I’m at the beach so I have not seen it yet. Got there quick so I had my buddy pick it. Look forward to rebuilding my upper. Also ordered a new gas block. I am going to bed the barrel this time. I have not bedded a barrel on an MSR before. Ordered some loctite and am contemplating bedding the gas block as well. Also I am just going to run a thread protector at the moment. Hope to pick up a Gamma soon, works great on the 308 I built my dad

I have used the green Loctite for bedding AR barrels.I’ve done it for others but never for myself.Never saw enough evidence to convince me to do it. What I would do is re-face the upper before installing the barrel with a lapping tool and compound.

Yes sir. I have lapped the upper on the previous build with my BA barrel so that it good to go. I ordered some green loctite 620. I just want to give it the most opportunity possible to shoot. I have read a lot on it. Never have done it but this is only my second precision build. First was a MK12 build I did and it is a 1 moa or less rifle with 77 grain SMKs. Did not bed it and I’m happy with it. I’m going to give it a shot on this one. As far as bedding the gas block. I believe I will hold off for now on that but will balance the torque on them. I will report back on it.
