10.5” build

I’m building a 10.5” pistol and was going to go with low mass carrier. Has anyone used he Brownells light weight carrier? I have always liked nitride but they have a titanium nitride carrier. Is one better or is it a gimmick? Does the forward assist work on the Brownells light weight carrier? Also I was debating on going with a 7” handgaurd vs 9” handgaurd. I will be using an adjustable gas block. Any advice from the Horde is appreciated.

I'd be cautious about using a lightweight carrier with a carbine gas system on that short barrel. With the carbine gas port, you'll be seeing pretty high pressures coming through your gas system that will cycle a lightweight carrier harder than a standard weight carrier. You'll need to throttle the gas system down with an adjustable gas block or an adjustable gas key on your carrier (see Bootleg or Rubber City Armory) to get it running smoothly. It can be done, but it will probably take a little extra effort to keep it from being overgassed. It seems like a lot of effort to save a few ounces -- but if your goal is a super light build, then it can be done.

Lowmass bcg with adjustable gas and standard carbine buffer and spring should work just fine with the 10.5 inch.

Honestly the new finish' s that are being used now days only help when it's time to clean the thing, they don't really do anything while it's running.

I prefer the righttobeararms lowmass bcg normally it's cheaper, don't know about right now.

I went with a RTB polished nitride standard BCG and got the adjustable gas key for my parts bin. It was on sale so I pulled the trigger on it.
