What's the difference between the 6mm Grendel and the 6mm ARC?

Beyond the possible shoulder angle, what the difference?

Shoulder angle the same but the case body (head space) and overall case length are both shortened .03 inches for better use with Hornady 100+ gr bullets. Yup that is the difference in 6mmAR and 6mmARC. so basically about .4 grains less powder in the ARC but length is better for the heavier bullets

In addition, the 6Arc is Saami'd whereas the 6 Grendel is not, makes it easier for mfrs to support the 6Arc.

I'm thinking of using the 103 Eldx and the Sierra 90 Tgk, maybe the 90 Accubond but the first 2 I already have in hand, it will be my "mini-6Creed".

The 6.5mm Grendel was made by stretching the shoulder of the 6mm PPC longer by 0.0757" to increase case capacity and necking it up to 6.5mm. The 6mm Grendel is basically that cartridge necked back down to 6mm. The 6mm ARC is a 6mm PPC with the shoulder stretched by .0457", exactly 0.030" less than a Grendel case. The big difference is that it's now a SAMMI specified cartridge and so will probably get wider adoption. We will have to see what impact this has on the old Grendel type 1 vs type 2 bolt issue.

See lots of mag issues on the boards. Mine are working okay now, but it took awhile to get them there. What brand are you using?

Cpd/duramags for metal grendel mags for my 12.5.

Modifyed SIX8 pmags for my 12 inch.

When did the Grendel get a “60 degree shoulder”? Think you have a math error brother! Same thing for the 6 PPC! Both have 30 degree shoulders, just like the 6mm ARC.

Already covered. You won't shove a 6.5mm neck into a chamber cut for a 6mm and finally, a 6.5mm bullet isn't going into a 6mm bore.

I use my Grendel magazines with the 6 AR with no problems so I doubt a new follower is needed for the 6 ARC.

The two 30 degree shoulders add up to 60. I'll edit my post.
