sorry I’m going with Anderson fde upoer reciever with Atlas handguard.

Can't say never used the other handguard. I checked them both out and liked the looks and profile of the atlas s-one more, it fits my hands very well yet still wide enough to get a adjustable gas block under it.

I also much prefer the barrel nut system and the way the handguard attaches to the barrel nut over the other system they use.

One thing I should point out about the atlas s-one is the front few inches is made for the gas block to fit under. The rest of the handguard is too small for a gas block to fit.

So you have to match your handguard length to your gas length. I'm useing a 7 and 9 inch on my two short grendels, both have carbine length gas systems.

The 7 inch falls right behind the gas block ( how I like it) and the 9 inch covers the gas block.

Have a 12 inch on a mid length gas set up wildcat upper and the handguard covers it's gas block as well.

I have found that the high dollar slr gas blocks have the most clearance but my cheap wojetck gas blocks also fit without touching. All I use is adjustable gas, so if your going with a standard gas block it should have a bit more clearance.

I appreciate all your help I went with the bootleg adj gas block so now I want as long of a rail as possible. Can I run a 12 on a 11.5 barrel

I'm not 100% sure. Personally I wouldn't try it, I think it would be to close to the muzzle or the muzzle device and be at risk for being split by the blast.

A 10.5" rail will end up about a .25"+/- short of the back end of the threads on a 11.5" barrel.

Their are pictures posted here of hand-guards blowing up if they are past a muzzlebreak. So i wouldn't have a handguard long enough to reach any muzzle blast.

Ok guys so I’m making great progress getting my parts together but need some help on the Maxim PDW. So I following a build by LRRFP52 I want to get the right Buffer spring. I have a bootleg adj bolt carrier. It and optics and I can build this pistol.really just need help ordering the right parts guy. Thanks in advance

May I ask where you got those two handguards from, I really like them?

Same handguards, one in MLOK, one in Keymod.

I think they are Midwest Industries G3s, from the chamfering (rare) by the MLOK/Keymod and lead QD sling hole
