9 Hogs (1355 lbs) Down on a New Property

A couple of weeks ago, a landowner showed me two pieces of property to hunting, one being mostly large open fields and a smaller one that was crisscrossed with streams and had bunches of trees. The latter looked promising, but more difficult to hunt. Both of these attributes turned out to be true.

Ben (HuntTXhogs) came out with me to hunt. This was my 2nd time on the property and his 1st. Rains the previous day had large areas of ground saturated with standing water and at least one of the little streams was running pretty strong and was deeper than our boots were tall...and we crossed it over and over, LOL.

Good hunt. Lots of hogs. Lots of work to not endanger the cattle. Biggest hog was a sow that was 250 lbs. Several shots over 200 yards including a 245 yard shot on a 50 lb boar. I was really pleased with the hunt overall, particularly with the amount of communication prior to and during the firing sequences.

I just got this new thermal scope and I’m still jealous of how Brian’s scope looks ....

It was nice to get the total up so early in the hunt - really charges you up and makes it hard to stop for the night

Then again water crossing bring you down from euphoria too

I don't know what sort of arrangement HuntTXhogs has with his wife, but my relationship involves a lot of negotiating and compensation. Plus, we use a tracking program so that she knows where my phone is (and hence, me), which comes in handy when I lose it, LOL. However, it let's her feel confident that if something goes south, she can find my body.

What scope is what? I saw it said thermion and HOGSTER but who was using the thermion? I’m saving up and shopping but not sure what to go with. (Or how much I am able to spend)

I was using a Trijicon IR Hunter. Ben was using the Thermion. We didn't do any Hogster video this time.

Now if only there were ten thousand more guys who killed 9 wild hogs every day then maybe in five years Texas would be relatively clear of them. Got to be the most destructive animals in the USA.
