New to 6.5 Grendel

Good advise here by the horde. I have a Faxon/Lancer CF handguard on my 16 inch Grendel and it works good. Post up pics when it is done!

The upper and lower will have a tungsten cerakote, carbon finish for the stock and handguard, and black cerakote for the barrel.

Without pics, did it really happen?

A Grendel up in Colorado shoots closer to a Creedmoor at sea level.

Here's a 20" Grendel at 9000ft elevation pushing a 129gr ABLR at 2450fps mv:

300yds 2137fps 1308ft-lbs .4 mils drift

That's plenty of killing power in a lightweight fire stick that allows you to keep the target in your sight picture after you break the shot off.

I ended up selecting a Precision Firearms 22" Krieger barrel, Lancer carbon stock and handguard, and Timney trigger.

I know it's going to be a few weeks, but it will be worth the wait.

Your going to be amazed at how well the Grendel shoots and Mark @PF does an outstanding job. There are many posts of happy customers talking how great there AR shoots.

A Precision Firearms build with Krieger barrel definitely seemed like the right choice.

I'll be using my Grendel at the following elevation: 9,000 mule deer in CO, 5,000 antelope in CO/WY, and sea level whitetail deer and pigs in TX.

Ive shot the 123 sst and eld. The sst didn't shoot well for me but does for many people and has killed a ton of game. The eld shot great for me and has also killed plenty of game.

123 sst- use to shoot good, now it's horrible in every barrel.

123 eld-m- works good to great in all my rifles and even better as a handload

127 LRX- shoots great groups for me in my handloads

129 ablr in my handload is something out of this world awesome, can't wait for deer season to roll back around.

Hi All!

Joined to glean some knowledge for what will be my first 6.5 Grendel build in the near future. Have built several AR's in 5.56 and looking for something a little different and landed on using the Grendel for this project. Mainly looking to reach out and touch something with a little more hammer than the 5.56 at ranges of 200-400yds. A critter killer for anything from coyote to hogs.

A little more about me? Farmer from Iowa, grow soybeans, corn, beef cattle, and a few sheep. Been a bolt action dude from the start, but really quickly warming up to the AR platform over the past 5 years or so. REALLY like the versatility, and have been pleasantly surprised at the accuracy from a semi-auto.
