Peeked out the front door around 10:30 last night and there were 6 or 8 hogs tearing up the small pasture next to my house. Not actually the front yard, but next to it. They were staying close to the brushline for quick egress. Shot one, and then shot at the runners. In the heat of the action, I lost track of the first hog,(not sure I hit it) and three rounds at the runners, none of the runners went down DRT? I found one hog that had run 15 or 20 yds, and so far I haven't found another one, nor have the buzzards as far as I can tell. The wounds on the hog I found were strange. Looked like the round entered way low on the abdomen, and traveled up and out the opposite side. Don't know for sure, but I think this was one of the "runners". They were only 50 to 60 yds away, and I had a pretty good rest on a fence post, and my POA on the first hog was in front of the shoulder. I was shooting the 123gr ELD's, loaded in new starline brass. I had run the sizing die over it, and cleaned flash holes etc, etc. I'm going to test fire some of the remaining batch to see how it does. I hate wasting components "fire forming" brass. Maybe I pulled off the first shot too quick trying to get to the runners. I don't know, but I'm sure there will more chances soon, if there's anything left for them to tear up. but I'm still looking for CCI 450 primers. The shelves are getting bare fast at the gun shops.
