Very nice indeed, Second. Good man. The chassis looks good, the rifle definitely hides the "mini" Grendel case well indeed. Let us know how she does! I want more than anything to see what it'd do with some new Sta-Ball Winchester powder; you've got the room to burn the slower powders.

At 2.315 and 31.4 grains I was able too get the 129 ablr up too 2350 with my cz grendel and staball powder.

With his longer coal length he probably could get a bit more then I did.

A rangeday on saturday with the goal to test a load on paper at 300meters. (~328yrd)

Nice winterday with a little wind but other than that, very nice!

The load tested was Hornady 140gr ELD-M with VV N540 powder.
Worked OK, but the shooter needs more rangetime...

great looking rig. and i KNOW you must be from Scandinavia. where it appears a nice winter day is one with ONLY ~1m of snow on the ground. or so it appears. how can you shoot tiny groups when you're shivering? i suppose if you shoot several rounds quickly, you can use the barrel as a hand warmer.... anyway, well done rig. enjoy. i have forgotten, what is the twist rate of the barrel? 1-200mm? i assume very cold air = high atmospheric pressure? very dense air? that would require a faster twist rate than warm, low density air, correct? are you close to sea level? or much higher? just curious about bullet stability of a bullet that is as long as the 140 ELD-M in high air density (sea level, arctic) situations. do you find you need to run faster twist barrels to keep the pointy end going down range this time of year?

After that picture was taken, we got another 50cm of snow. The range is for the time beeing closed until we get is cleared with a big tractor.
Have no problem shooting in the cold. I'm physically like a bear so I don't shiver.
But tiny groups is another problem. To much time behind the loadbench and not enough time behind the rifle.

The twist rate of the Kriger-barrel is 1:8. On the shorter Jury-barrel it's 1:7.5. Not sore how to convert it into metric.

The cold air changes a lot here. It can be +5C and the next weekend it's -25C.
I have extremely small knowledge when it comes to different hPa and air density, meters over the sea etc. And haven't really tested the effect. The shooting range that we can use up to 300meters is at 300meters from sea level. Have often noticed a hPa of around 960 up to about 1030.
But haven't found any indication for stability problems in any of the bullets from 108gr up to 140gr.

Those heavy pills are your saving grace. Usually that low in altitude kills your long range shooting, and the trans sonic barrier is under 1k meters for the 123gr.

For me at 5k ASL I'd still be pushing 411m/s at 1k.

Yes and no. Given that you can push 140s at 744m/s, you might be able to push the 123s significantly faster than one would normally see in a Grendel, ergo my statement that factory Hornady Black 123gr is 2450 - 2500 fps (744-750m/s) out of my family of 4 Howa 1500 minis. Those faster speeds would keep them from going trans sonic shy of 1k meters.

The lower altitude is higher air pressure, and temperature is what will slow the bullet down faster.

My home altitude and where the one match that I shoot at runs a Density Altitude of 7k-10k. Lower pressure, less dense, less friction on the bullet to slow it down. Yours hangs around 0-3k depending on temperature (-5*c will get you a DA of 3k, 25*c will make it closer to 0).

Run your numbers in JBM Ballistics trajectory calculator, and you will see the difference that the altitude makes in the velocity loss.

I have unfortunately leaned that the trade off for running a heavier high BC bullet (in the smaller action rifles) is I can't push it as fast as the lighter brother, so any gains in the higher BC were given back in the lower velocity. Now I am out of 123gr ELD and have 950 of the 130gr ELD that I have to make work. This is why I am very interested in your results with the powders. I need to give them a try.

Have done some "sidework" on my chrono, the Magnetospeed Sporter.

This chrono is for barrel mount straight on the barrel, but not together with a suppressor.
For suppressors, the other model of Magnetospeed is the normal use.

I found a video on Youtube where a guy reworked the bajonett of the chono so it could fit the suppressor.
I dit the same.

I measured how much to cut off and went to work.

The bajonett was mounted on a alloy rail at the front and a Ebay picatinny QD mount at the back that clamped on to the forend of the Bravo.

This was "prototype 1".

It worked but was little to flexible so I used another alloy rail to make it more rigid.

This is "prototype 2" and the current setup. The nice on this rail is that the cable from the bajonett i fitted inside the rail.
The style of bipods that I use also helps so that the rail to the bajonett can be mounted on the forend and pass under the bipod.

This setup worked better but when I added the Cole-Tac suppressor cover, the bajonett came too far from the bullet so it couldn't get any reading.
I cut out about 7mm more of the bajonett and now it works perfect!

The gain in this setup is that I can use the chrono and have no affect on the POI. When the Magnetospeed is attached to the barrel, it changes my POI. So previous, I needed to do one thing at the range. Shooting with the chrono or shooting for groups on the target. Now I can do both. Must admit that I am very happy with the result of this rework an the look of it.

being new to the forum and coming to NEW light of the grendel , several years ago a friend of mine had an AK variety of the grendel and i shot several deer back then. Fell in love with the looks of the wicked design and now 12 years later I built one off the ar 15 platform using cbc industries new cy6 18" barell. Looking forward to better weather and calmer winds to site my scope in and go shoot some coyotes and then shoot deer this season. I am seriously thinking about getting the ruger long gun just for grins since I do like bolt action acurracy.

Have for some time now been thinking of adding more weight to my gun.
More weight is not really needed, but I am curious by nature so why not try

I normally have the heavy and long Krieger barrel and spend most shooting on the ground in prone position. No PRS or "running around" so the gun do not need to be light for handling.
For the KRG Bravo that I have, there is machined metal plates that can easily be mounted to the Bravo. But that is no fun.

I found a Youtube video where a forend of a gunstock was filled with lead pellets and then filled with some resin or epoxy. This caught my interest and I got 5kg of lead pellets from a diver shop. They have the lead for diving weights.
And then some laminate epoxy. Normally used for repairing fiberglass boats etc.

The KRG Bravo have a lot of open places that was usable for filling with these pellets and then pouring in the epoxy. The forend was filled both on the barrel canal and under the forend plastic cover.
The grip and underside of the backstock as well as the backstock itself. There are some small spaces left that could be filled also, but I have gradually done this and checked the progress with balans in mind. After this added weight, the midpoint of balance for the complete rifle is right in front of the magazine.

First the space was cleaned and then I brushed on some liquid car wax and let that dry. The wax was used if I someday need to remove the wight. If it will work as planned, no idea.
Then the lead pellets was filled and after that the liquid epoxy. Filled the epoxy in slow and let it settle. Then wait for it all to harden.

After this "operation" the added weight to the KRG Bravo is 2.6kg (~5.7 lbs)
So the total weight of the KRG Bravo is now 3.9kg (~8.6 lbs)

After the system is assebled and ready for the range, the whole rifle now have total weight of 9.8kg (~21.6 lbs).

Yes. One of my concerns also.
Was on the range yesterday and tested the rifle, but no change after that trip.

I do know that I will be shooting in very changing temperatures from +20C down to -20C so that might also be a factor that can loosen the weights. But if they get loose, then I can always remove them completely if it affects the balance of the gun.
In the end, the added weight is not really necessary for the Grendel or the rifle in it self.

So.
Maybe time for a update on the "project".

I have put the shorter Jury-barrel on so that the Grendel is ready for hunting.
And I have also found a very nice VLS-stock that I will be using for hunting that requires me to move around.
Since I have filled the Bravo with lead and it is not ideal as a hunting stock when moving around is needed, another stock is needed.
This stock was in good condition, but a little work was needed to open up the barrel channel and that ended up in the stock got a bedding job by myself.

After that I went to the range to test fire and also sight in the scope so the guns was complete ready for hunting.
The hunting this time of year with the Grendel is primarily for black grouse and capercaillie. They are this time of year here in the northern of Sweden out in top of trees feeding.
I will be using the 108gr Scenar for this type of hunt, but also wanted a more expanding bullet for a opportunity for other animals like fox.
The gun always have liked the 108gr Scenar and no surprise this time either after the bedding.

The 123gr SST is the expanding bullet and it needs a few MIL to the side. Did too many on the first shot and backed down 2 clicks and it lokks like it will work also.

Have not stopped with a bedding job so the next have been to install a butt to the stock that can give adjustments.
This was grinded into place and the original buttpad from Remington is resused and I´am happy with the result.
The stock will now need a new surface so I will be stripping it and redo the clearcoat.

After that I wanted to be able to use my bipods. They are attached with a QD-picatinny. I have the similar solution for the Bravo, so a front mount was needed also on this VLS-stock.
Opened the front of the stock so the mount could be fitted under the barrel.

I then did a small bedding so that the fit for the mount was tight and level.

After that I took the Dremel and worked up the surface so that the bedding compound could lock the mount into place. And then I bedded it into the stock. Used the barrel to press the bedding for a tight fit and to get as much bedding as possible on the top of the mount.

The mount was however a little to long so I needed to cut it a little so it did clear the silencer. But it still works as needed.

Thank you for updating this thread. A member over on Snipers Hide was wondering if anyone has done this (SA bolt action typically for larger caliber) with the Grendel. I have yet to do up my MPA Comp. I need to bore a bolt for the case, and get a barrel cut.
