Longer Distance Thermal Hunting: Boar and Skunk

The boar was taken at 230 yards and the skunk at 170. For thermal hunting 230 yards on a hog isn't extremely far, but it is longer than is typical. 170 yards on the skunk in high humidity, I thought was pretty cool.

I'm unfamiliar with skunks but I image they are even a smaller target without the fur. From a tripod during the day that still would have been a challenging shot.

Striped skunks weigh 2-4.5 lbs, so not tiny, but the hair is a definite factor.

Very impressive. I'm amazed how there seems to be almost no bullet drop in your shots. That skunk is tiny, even a 2" bullet drop is likely a clean miss. But with crosshair spot on at 170 yards, one shot drop. And the hog was a 230 yard shot, and the bullet seems to impact exactly where the cross hair is again. Does your scope adjust the cross-hair based on distance? Or if not, what yard zero are you using?

I have a 100 yard zero. The boar was hit in the shoulder on the first shot and the wound sealed up, no blood sign evident. The blood behind the ear was from the 2nd shot that entered the chest near the sternum and a bit of it exited near the ear.
