How State and Federal NICS eliminate the 2A

Our gov blackface here in Va has shut down all shooting ranges (at midnite this past Tues) as part of movie theaters, entertainment places and others that do over 10 people per. Retail, especially the smaller retails, can stay open, and the retail part of my indoor range can still operate. So purchases can continue for now.

No ranges are business that sale guns,ammo are gun related parts and accessories have been closed in Louisiana to my knowledge.

In fact in my lil cornor of LA it's business as usual. I live in the biggest tourism money making area in my state. And not one case of covid19 has been reported here yet.

Not long back LA passed the ccw aomething bill stating that if you had a ccw you no longer had to have your gun purchases called in too the ncis/fbi system.

My understanding is know they are trying to get a constitutional carry bill passed. And some of the wording I was told was that if you are already a lawful owner of firearms when this bill pass's you will not be subject to having any firearm purchases called into the ncis/fbi for clearance.

So it appears my state is trying to make it easier to purchase firearms, ammo and such things.

Breitbart has a news item that LA county sheriff's efforts to close gun stores is placed on hold -- Gov Newsom is re-thinking, maybe those stores should be classed as essential. Reckon some pending lawsuits may be playing a part but no word on that.
This is a small reprieve for LA county, for now.

Update on LA county, the NRA and the 2d Amendment Foundation have sued Gov Newsom and the LA county sherrif over their restrictions of gun sales. Under violation of the second amendment but adding in another charge, that it violates the 14th Amendment as well, in that no sate or local entity can make or enforce an act that prevents citizens from exercising their constitutional rights. I like the fact that a new charge is introduced, as well as the suit in general. We need more like this.

I just stumbled upon this thread and I can say that it's been a major issue for me as well. I've been doing everything that I can to keep my customer's transfers on track despite the major sometimes continuous NICS outages. For the last couple of weeks, I've been up trying to run NICS checks as late as 1am and have several more than usual come back delayed. It's starting to settle down now that inventories are getting low and the initial wave of panic appears to be settling down. I expect things to ramp up again if this continues much longer though.

To add insult to injury, this has significantly reduced the time that I have for other tasks (like shooting, keeping up with the forums, and my son's LR build). I have been able to keep up with my transfers though and, short of a few customers who have been completely shutdown due to the state discontinuing PTC/PTP, I don't have anything pending pick-up at the moment (finally!).

This NICS debacle is totally unacceptable and, if you ask me, 100% unconstitutional! Especially when you throw in local laws requiring PTC/PTP when law enforcement has, allegedly at the governor's order, completely shut down the process to acquire these permits. The courts have also essentially shut down around here too and are only entertaining "extremely urgent cases" and you can guess where that would leave a 2a legal challenge.

Western VA. I just ran thru NICS in a few minutes, all clear. I was advised that 8-12 hour delays had been common.
