Bore Guide Question

Dose anybody make a bore guide that will fit an AR 6.5 Grendel ?
And who sells them ??

Just bought one from MidwayUsa. Thought it was kind of expensive but it'll protect an expensive barrel and preserve accuracy.

I have both kinds of bore guides. Not only do bore guides protect the throat of the barrel, and the finishes on the stock, they can help prop open an AR15 type rifle for cleaning.

I think more barrels are ruined by improper cleaning damaging the throat and/or the crown, than are worn out by shooting them out.

what diameter cleaning rod did you use? i'm going to order the lucas bore guide also. anyone use a carbon fiber rod, or will a plain rod do?

I have the Satern bore guide above but I didn't like the solvent port being in the ejection port. I also had a .223 Dewey bore guide with rear solvent port so I drilled the Satern to accept the Dewey solvent port.

A few local gun shops and a local blacksmith have expressed the need for a Bore guide to be about as necessary as a "barrel break-in period". The popular question was; how is it possible for Brass or Aluminum to damage Stainless Steel or Chrome-moly Steel? So if any of you have an answer, please enlighten me, so that if ever faced with this question in the future, I will at least be able to offer some response.

Constant rubbing of anything in one spot will cause wear, you can strop a razor sharp with a leather strap or linen strop cloth. An aluminum or carbon fiber or brass rod rubbed into the same spot on the throat will wear over time. Most of us are not ambidextrous, nor are we set up so we can vary that angle very much, I can't even begin to properly brush or patch a barrel with my left hand!

Ah ok! The damage-over-time theory makes a lot more sense than the, uh-oh I forgot to use my bore guide, now by barrel is screwed theory. Thank you B!

I have a number of the Lucas bore guides and think they are fabulous. They have worked without any issues or problems for the past 7-8 years.

I emailed Lucas for a bore guide. I got a quick reply stating that they aren't accepting any orders until 5/12 and to try back then. I ended up just getting a bore guide for 6.8 from Precision Firearms. Apparently you can just run larger diameter o-rings. I'll keep you all posted on how it works.
