My dealer received my Ruger Ranch in 6.5 Grendel today from Davidson?s today. Barrel alignment in the stock was great, overall fit and finish was really well done. BUT godamn it Ruger, the bolt had so much slop it, the magazine wobbled. What killed it for me was the feeding, I brought some snap caps, and one of my E-Lander mags. It would not feed for shit, I have a M77 Target MKII feeds great. I sent it back, not Davidson?s fault, but Jesus H Christ Ruger........come on, I sticking with Howa from now on. A2

LOL.............I know Marine! The bolt on my RAP is as smooth as a trainwreck. They take some patience to feed properly. And all of it is the fit and distance between the stock and action and the spring tension of the magazines used. Mine feeds 100% but you can't open the action and slowly slip the bolt back and catch your empty like my 700's, 77's etc can. The RAP needs to be manhandled to work. The CZ and Howa do have much better actions. Period. I don't see how Ruger is going to fix the Grendel RAP the way it is currently in production.

hey, people are buying it. therefore it must not be broke, right? and if we quit buying it i suspect their conclusion will simply be, not popular anymore.... may not ever occur to them that it doesn't function worth a darn. or they don't care. or the bean counters told them they can't fix it and stay profitable. but Ruger is not the only one. Big Green is stumbling too. unfortunately i suspect 50% of the sale price of each item from domestic manufactures in this industry goes to a legal defense fund. foreign manufactures don't have to put up with the BS so can put more $ into the product for the same sale price and margin.

If this Howa “floorplate” mod pans out, why bother with anything else? That’ll be about the perfect Bolt Grendel. That or the CZ. My 527 Micro Mauser Grendel feeds great also. I prefer the control feed but, to be fair, the Howa has rock solid feeding also. I’ve got Ruger 308, 7m-08, a couple of 243’s and 5.56 American/Predators, and they all feed great, never had an issue with any of them but the Grendel, it’s been a struggle since the git-go.

My buddy let me shoot his,so I knew exactly what I was getting into before I purchased my 6.5 Grendel RAP. The reason I chose it over a CZ was because the RAP can be easily upgraded.And upgrades are readily available. I always prefer having the option to upgrade.
All I did so far was get an MDT chassis and change out the trigger spring.I was thinking about getting a 24 inch rock Creek bull barrel and have my Smith work the bolt.But after a few 100 rds,it feeds well w/ASC 10 rd mags and it is very accurate with 123g ELD hand loads.
I own two CZ 527 varmint in 223. They are both tack drivers.I also own several other CZ rifles which I like. I can see myself possibly getting a CZ MTR 6.5 Grendel In the future.But, now I just have too many projects going on .I’m still waiting on three custom AR barrels I ordered back in November!

My 6.5g RAP doesn’t feed as easily as my .300bo RAR, both use AR mags.
If I pop rounds out by hand it’s obvious the 6,5g takes more effort.
The easiest feeding mag is my 15 round ASC mags, the hardest is E-landers. Both feed reliably.
I did have to smooth my feed ramp and round down the sharp edges, out of the box mine would not cycle snap caps 100% either.
Mags have a lot of play in both rifles but doesn’t seem to affect feeding, I’ve tried to induce a malfunction by pushing & pulling the mag, they work.
Also tried wrapping them in electrical tape to take the play out and it just made them harder to seat.
