from alabama. i was briefly a member a couple of years ago when i briefly owned a 6.5 grendel upper. couldn't get it to shoot well; it just didn't want to fit my spike's lower just right).
anyhow, i'm back, and am considering three options for $500-$600 investment for hunting: (a) AR upper (b) howa mini-action sporter © cz 527 american.
options are not in order. i will say, light weight (sub-7 pounds all up) is a key goal.

paul, any reason you don't like the Grendel in the Ruger American flavor? (Accurate, light weight, priced under your budget, uses AR grendel mags)

i don't mind the RAR at all; it's just not as slick as the cz and howa, with their tiny actions ...

Welcome. At $600 your very close to a larue kit which is great bang for buck.

Welcome to the clan, pf, from the great nation of Texas! In the selections that you listed, there isn't a bad choice. A better choice might be a combination of a Grendel upper and one of the bolt guns. I have a Howa Grrrr and it does real well. However, I have an RAR in 6mm CM that does sub-caliber sized bug holes! Don't sell Ruger short!
